I am worried? I am twenty-two years old.....
I just recently had a pap, and it came up normal, my nurse practitioner, (planned parenthood), said everything was fine, but

I don't have regular periods, and never have, it seems that i usually go a month, then skip one or two months, than have another seven day period..... which has been normal for me, as abnormal as it is.....

but recently in the last year though, where my periods have always been a bright red or at least red color, now when my periods come they are dark brown, sometimes at the end i see a little red, but most of the time it stays dark brown even chocolate almost, thru the course of my period..... should i be worried about this, and if so, what do you think it could be?
please help i am frightened..... :-(

I'm 23 and have a similar situation. However, this has happened to me for almost a year now (off and on). I've been on the pill for 3 years. I'm not sure if you are on the pill, but you may look into it. In the beginning it seemed to help. I also found out, through a lot of pain, that I have polycystic ovarian syndrome - meaning I have a lot of cysts on my ovaries. This disease can cause you to either have periods every 2 weeks (me) OR to have missed periods that can last up to months without a period (possibly you). Talk to your doctor about this. See if they can do a sonogram or blood exam to test to see if you have cysts. It sounds scary, but much better to know you have them than to let them become unruly. I hope it's negative. You should find a doctor that is willing to listen to you even if what you are saying sounds crazy. If this doctor doesn't listen, find another one!
