I've never heard of all these supplements. I don't like to take vitamins because they hurt my stomach. I've been off Zoloft for 6 days minus two days ago I had to take one 50 mg because I had to drive an hour with my son and was feeling extremely dizzy and lightheaded and could not concentrate. That was Sat today is Monday, I'm having constant headaches so ibruprofen all day for me. I also take Xanax so you can bet I'm not skiping that daily untl I am over all the withdrawals from Zoloft. I'm hoping I dont have another 4 day dizzy spell but trying to stay strong and stay away from them. Zoloft is wonderful for anxiety and I slept better than ever in my whole life, but I also gained 20 lbs. in one year, 8 within the first month. I went from being a size 3/4 to a size 12, pretty much all went to my gut and some on thighs and arms. I too became very apathetic. No sex drive at all. Don't care about dating, don't care about painting my toenails, getting my eyebrows waxed, etc. Some apathy can be great but I also lost interest in just about anything that used to make me happy like going to the beach because I became quite content with doing nothing basically and also became very unsociable. I look at myself before and after Zoloft and I'm a different person, some good but mostly bad. I'm hoping to take away from the pill the lessons learned about keeping my cool, realizing that sleep is obtainable, and that I can live without men to make me happy. But I don't want to be a fat person, it is not fun and I feel disgusting when my stomach is overlapping my jeans. Fingers crossed!

I agree. The more medication a person is put on the more symptoms, side effects, and actual problems begin to occur. There are many many natural supplements out there that can alleviate and even cure problems. We have been sabatoged by Drs and the pharmacutecal industry. Don't be foolish and lazy with your own health. There is tons of information available every where you look. So it takes a little of your time??? Better to pay a Dr who really doesn't give a *#it?? Your problem then. Whatever our bodies need the earth provides and it has never been more understood and readily available as in these times. I have gone both ways, RX and natural supplements. Withdrawls from Rx and the side effects are very damaging. I have struggled a lifetime of deppresion, ADHD and being sucidal. I am a 42 year old female, and have searched for many years to alleveate my symtpoms without a Dr.
I can honestly say that with consistent use of SAM-E and 5htp my symptoms are much relieved. The key is to staty consitent..if you forget and start wondering what is wrong, ahh! It may dawn on you that you have not been taking your suppliments.

Ok, so you have never heard of these supplements. You clearly know how to read and write and get around on the internet. All the infomation you need is available...Anything you want to know can be found.
We are are each ultimatly responsible for our own health and well being as long as we are mentally and physically capable of doing such. Take that responsibilty for real and educate youself. Dr are not the answer, they are full of it and may be right about something a small percentage of the time. Its a racket. Hello WAKE UP PEOPLE!! Its not easy, but if you can get past the most difficult parts with slowly weening off meds and educating yourself about supplments all over the world market that are safe and can work for you than take those steps.

Doctors do suck. Giggle all you want...then continue to be a slave to their system. In the end you are the failure if you blindly follow...and I do have a clue!

u don't need to go to such extremes....a potent fish oil supplement, magnesium and good multivitamin with all the b vitamins will do the trick.  taper off very gradually and, if too edgey, u can supplement with either sam-e or 5 htp.  keep it as easy and natural as possible.  most depression is caused by nutritional deficiency to begin with.  you'll find in the long run that bumping up the right vitamins will work wonders.  if you drink alcohol frequently, that will deplete vitamins and make u feel worse as well, however, nothing wrong with having that glass of wine once in a while!

Hi , I was taking sertraline 50mg day for 11 months following anxiety problems which in the end stopped me going out my front door !They began after a student drove into my car where i work ( totally admitted fault ) she'd only been driving 2 months. It was the actions of her mother ,trying to blame me to the point where she tried to lose me my job at college , which i love.Thankfully all the management above me could see what she was trying to do and dismissed her greivance. That led to me being put on sick leave until said student had finished her course ! At the time i knew i was being ridiculous and my Dr was happy that i noticed my behaviour was irrational. Anyway, the problems that caused my anxiety ( the bulk of it ) have long gone. ( I got a lovely car out of it and no claims reinstated ) I didnt have time to get a repeat a couple of weeks ago so i took it as an opportunity to get off them ! I halved my dose for a week then ran out. I'm now doing cold turkey ! I had 3 bad nights with vivid dreams , now all i have is vertigo ! Does anyone know how long this can last ? It only affects me when i stand up too quick or turn my head quickly ( as if my eyes and brain are out of sync !) I've noticed i'm getting grumpier than usual but i can control that as i'm aware of it .Any advice would be great

I've been prescribed so many antidepressants over my adulthood I've lost track! The last one was the last straw. After a hellish experience with a useless psychiatrist I also went cold turkey off Zoloft. Stupid yes, the best thing I've ever done YES. it's been almost three weeks and with this many of the natural remedies listed in previous posts the zaps, fatigue et al are waning. Please don't do this though unless you have the time to detox! I needed to shop, errands, work (at home) and drive my son to school etc. Bad idea. I was a bitchy id**t. I'm a well educated middle age woman and totally agree with the other posts. Pharmaceutical companies are huge money makers and have the time and endless deep pockets to wine and dine the doctors. Go natural! The fact that we have all endure these HORRIBLE withdrawals should be our wake up call! Sure three weeks of hellish cold turkey beats the long drawn out weaning. But remember don't drive or have to use you brain. Prepare ahead of time and detox early on with herbal remedies. Find a holistic practitioner. Almost half on the American population has or is using antidepressants! American want their quick fix and the doctors are glad to oblige and pharmaceutical companies are thrive on this. Feel free to email me and I'll try to help mood luck!

I took two standardized veggie caps of Valerian Root Extract. Follow this post and I will let you know if it helped with nerve symptoms. As for the nausea, I believe it will subside once the "brain zaps" are calmed.

As awful as its feeling I'm trying to go off pristiq cold turkey.  Had first crying spell which was in a way a weird experience (day 2 1/2) because I haven't cried for happiness or sadness in over 9 months.

To combat it I called my Dad and took a one mg Ativan.  I want this c**p out of my system.  I want to try to live life with ups and downs, or possibly try something with alot more research before believing its "not addictive".  I took it as an ad- on for bipolar meds and really honestly don't think I need more seratonin!  I think the natural ways are better, gym, supplements, good diet, but not against anyone who needs to take an antidepressant but either be prepared to take it for life like my Mom does, or one that can be tapered easier, or something.

I'm afraid right now if I try to taper I'll end up on the max dose pretty much right away.  So I'm trying desperately to hang in there. Appreciate the advice.  My Dr. gave me ativan and other meds for anxiety related withdrawls, the rest I'm dealing with today okay.  I mean eating good, gym, but cant' do much else.  Thanks.

I am trying to get off Paxill. Hellish experience and I am tapering slow too. My joints ache, I am exausted, no energy and the migraines are horrible. I just don't want to be on this anymore! i have gone from thin and healthy to fat and frumpy.

i started at 30mg over the summer and am down to 10, but it is so hard to function, I am trying to supplement with 5htp.
