I have the Nexplenon also (the rod in my arm). I've had it for a little over two years and everything was smooth until about 6 months ago. I started having nonstop periods out of nowhere, along with cramping and all the other lovely side effects of periods. I ended up growing a cyst on my ovary (likely due to the rod, it's a severe potential side effect). Now, though I had it removed, my periods as continuous as ever. It varies from heavy to light, even the color changes from red to an alarming brown and black. I've tried premerin as well as a depo shot and nothing has helped. My doctor is urging me to get the IUD but I can't really imagine I'll have any more success considering the other three attempts were completely fruitless.
This is an honest guess, so don't take it to be fact, but I'm thinking that the nexplenon caused some larger issues in my body that won't be fixed my birth control. Maybe it's an infection, or I ended up with some sort of blood disease, I have no idea. All I can suggest as someone who is still dealing with this issue many months later, speak to your doctor and get tested for any possibilities. Get a second opinion if you have to.

Do you mind if I ask how old you are? I just got a depo shot about a week ago due to prolonged issues and since I have started showing all the signs.

I am supposed to start BC later this month due to chronic pelvic pain. My doctor is using this as a way to avoid exploratory surgery. I have Depressive and Mood Disorder and I'm pretty sure the hormones will collide with my depression. I get extremely suicidal the onset of my period, it's scary. I did have an ovarian cyst as well. They (Dr.) did absolutely nothing for me. I looked like a pregnant guinea pig on wait and watch for the pre-cancerous cells I had. I was in pain. It caused many complications. -- Unfortunately I had to man up and tough it out. Which brings me here. All of my symptoms can't right back.

And all she could say was BC!!? I'm not a test subject. I do not want to screw with my already screwed up emotions. I do not want a longer period. They are bad enough with the help. I have fainted several times. I've ran through bottles of OTC PKs. It's sad! -- I do not want the pills. I rather have them look through me and get this over with instead of me charting down side-effects. - The doctor's didn't try to help last time. Even my oncologist shoved me aside. I really do not expect them to help this time. - But my new OBGYN, did offer the scope and the BC.

I do not want BC for something I know it will not fix. I just want to see what it is so I'll know who to go to next.

Right now, I'm laying in bed curled up in a ball, with a heating pad, nauseated, dehydrated, sore and aching. Not to mention running a continuous fever.

Forget BC, I'm going further.

'm currently on my second packet from the second box but i'very been on my period for 20 days now. I have kept taking the pills everyday and at the same time.
This isn't the first time it's gone on for a long time but the last time it went from 15 days and then I starting using the pill and it stopped it.
I'm not sure if things like this can be genetic but my aunts complained of 'long periods', not entirely sure how long they were referring to though.
If anyone has an explanations or advice on how to stop my period please please help!!!
