Hello, I am 26 years old and I have been having problems with my thyroid gland. Basically, the gland is not active enough and does not produce sufficient level of thyroid hormone. I have been changing several meds in order to find an appropriate therapy and it seems that I am not taking enough Synthroid, the med I use at the moment.

I cannot say that you are not taking it in sufficient amounts. Perhaps it is just not strong enough for you and that means that you should probably change the therapy or see with your doctor what might be the cause of Synthroid's inefficacy. Whatever the problem, you should continue until you find a right thing that will restore the balance to your body's metabolism.

Hello there,

This is very delicate matter so you can’t decide about changing therapy on your own. First of all if you are sure that your medication, in this case Synthroid, doesn’t work properly and he is not helping to restore your hormonal balance you should share this information with your doctor. First of all it is very important to set the right dosage of the Synthroid for your thyroid problems and since you are feeling like it is not working it is probably time to adjust the current dosage or to switch to some other medication.

But, I must repeat this is something you must do in agreement with your doctor. I hope that you will resolve your problems soon.
