My son had viral encephelitus when he was four and was in hospital for three months. He is now in his thirties and suffering from many of the problems already mentioned on this site such as depression, mood swings, memory loss, bone pain, anxieties and mistrust. My question is this:

Has anyone ever had an MRI scan to determine which areas of the brain have been damged and then offered appropriate tailored treatment?

So far the only help from doctors is to try and pressurise my son into taking anti psychotic medication or anti-depressants!!Other than risky pharmaceutical recommendations they seem unwilling to investigate properly.
