I am 37 years old and have had three pregnancies, two to term and one miscarriage at five weeks gestation. My second child is two years old. Since her birth, I have had extremely irregular, or extremely short, cycles. My last six cycles have been 26, 20, 31, 18, 24, and 19 days in length. We are not trying to get pregnant, and in fact are done having children, so if these cycles are anovulatory, that would be a blessing in disguise. My main concern is if irregular/short cycles point to a hormonal imbalance or thyroid issue that I ought to have remedied. I am in no pain and have no horrible side effects from my periods, other than not being prepared. Is this something I need to follow up on with my gynecologist? Thank you in advance.
