I agree that's a good idea. I think that getting a second opinion when it comes to antidepressants is really important too. Thanks for pointng that out!

hi! reading these posts put up so long ago about paxil. sooooo hoping that louis is still on here?????? i am ready to crawl out of my skin. i am 39, the mother of four very active boys, 13 year old triplets, and then an 11 year old. that said, i don't have time for anxiety, yet have battled it for many years. i was on paxil for over 10 years and did relatively well, but 6 or so months ago decided i was okay enough to come off. well, not a good idea. some heavy stressors hit my life, and bam......here i am. horrible anxiety, paxil very low dose bc i am so horribly affected by meds, trying to wean up, but have lost 10 pounds so far, and not feeling too much better. i get better by mid afternoon and evening, i'm guessing after paxil has worn off???? doctor gave me xanax to help get through it, but i don't feel well on that either, like klonopin better. i just want my life back. afraid that paxil will not work this time. not sure how long to wait???? my poor family needs me back. any suggestions fellow sufferers? i cannot stop obsessing either, about getting well and all the problems i'm facing, which really, anyone else would tell you i have a great life. uggh! hard to see in the midst of this. any helpful advice greatly appreciated.

I was on paxil for a little over 2 wks and it just drained me of energy so I was taken off of them this was 6 days ago and I am still dealing with withdrawal symptoms such as that lightheaded feeling you get when you have the flu and a few other symptoms but the lightheadedness is extremely annoying I was wondering how long this will last

Yes I had a terrible increase in my anxiety the first day I started the paxil. I never took it again it made think nonsense and paranoid.

Maria, I happened to read this thread while researching Paxil, and I had a couple of things to say that might be helpful. After many scary drug reactions suffered by my daughter, one doctor suggested running a genetic test to see which drugs she can and cannot metabolize well. Had we done that years ago, she would have been saved so many scary experiences! Ours was run by a psychiatrist. Not sure if other doctors can order the test. Alpha Genomics is the name of one test. Another is Genomind. It really helps take the fear out of trying a new medicine.

Secondly, it sounds like your anxiety was triggered by trauma. So was my daughter's. One type of psychotherapy method that helped her was EMDR. It helps your brain hold the event(s) in a healthier way, pretty quickly.

Hope this helps! Hang in there!

Hi:) I too just started seroxat CR 25 mg or paxil as is known in the US; I take it at night as advised along with dogmatil 50 for the first week. Day 3 I had an adrenaline rush and panicky feelings, along with some mild nausea. Needed to take calmepam half a tablet to manage to get some sleep. Day 4, much better but still sleeping on and off, and day 5 even better and with calmepam slept 8 hrs uninterrupted. There is still a bit of a shaky or jittery feeling internally and a dry mouth. I am hoping these will go away soon. My doctor told me these reactions were due to the medicines and would go away in a week. I am supposed to see him at the two week consultation. Hope I am completely symptom-free by then.

Hi! I too am taking seroxate CR 25 mg a night; today will mark day 9 since I started it. For the first couple of days I was quite anxious and had a couple of adrenaline rushes, which thankfully passed. Then the nausea sets in and an internal shaky/jittery sensation that's felt more when in a resting position. Also, muscle weakness/tension in my legs. Is it normal to be feeling these symptoms on day 9? I thought the side effects were only supposed to last a week maximum. Thank you:)

Amazing reply.very fruitfull and explanatory.thanks for the effort doctor . I have been on paxil for 12 days . 7 of which on the10 mg and 5 on the 20 mg . I realized that after starting the 20mg dose I have headaches every now and then along with sleeping disturbances . I only sleep for 4 hours . Shaky hands at mornings. Are these normal side effects ? Shall I wait and see if they fade away with time ?isn't early to judge? Would like to hear ur opinion in this regards doctor?
