side effects of coming off depo provera

I am having most of the same problems except I have been bleeding for over 2 months. I have only had the shot twice and I am due for another one this week which I am not going to get. I just want to know when this is going to stop. I have only had 2 shots and its effecting my body horribly. Im constantly bleeding nonstop. All of these post are depressing and scare me even more.

I had the same problem as I was due for a shot a couple of days ago(Had been on it for almost 4 yrs) and the doc gave me this horrible bc pill to replace the shot. that didn't work--no preg but super nausea/depressionx3!
Why don't I think ANYONE should take this: All of the symptoms that were discussed above
Every woman differs but I bled for almost 2 yrs (then I went to doc and found out I have loss of bone density--I can barely walk/pick up anything; teeth fragile;iron diffecentcy from loss of so much blood)and am very ill now I can barely take care of myself.
I would seriously avoid the shot like the plague.imho
I asked my doc what should I do( *I barely made it to apt last week..but then she acted like it was all good) and she said:"Well you could get the iud if you had (...2 thousand dollars!!) but since you don't & state refuses to help: Go to emg room!"

i recieved shot twice i gained 45lbs and was on my period for one month then every couple weeks im now on the heaviest period ive ever experienced i thought it was a bad idea taking this drug however the nurse assured me that the symptoms were mild bs

I am going though this exact thing right now....how long did it take to recover?

I took the depot for the first time and was bleeding for 2 1/2 months and when it was time for me to get the next shot I did not take it so now I'm feeling like I could be pregnant but I know I'm not nausea, bloating, cramping badly everyday and breast tender and also I will stop bleeding then have break through bleeding so no I would not recommend this shot to no one.

I was on depo since may 2011 I got off in october the last shot was in july or august 2012 I feel nasau vomiting and headaches dizziness black dots tired depression up and down mood swings and no period I am not trying to get pregnant so I am not going to get a pregnancy test I don't think I pregnant but I do think depo is the worst thing to be on do not try it

Can i suggest u get your hormone levels checked. The depo releases a synthetic form of hormone into ur body, which in turn, your body senses this and stops producing its natural form of this hormone. Therefore when stopping the injection, your body is missing a hormone. Generally simple measures suggested by ur doctor can rebalance ur levels returning ur body to normal. I had one shot of depo and after the three months my body started producing large amounts of DHT which is related to testosterone. Dht levels that are high result in oily hair, pimples, hair thinning etc. but as you know hormones play a big part in the physical and emotiOnal functiOning of women.

Ive was on the shot for 1year and a half, i rescentlly got off the shot on September 29...Ive been having crazzy side affects ive beeen really moody, sleeping alot, and I havent got my peroid yet and it almost been 4mnths..And fo some reson ive gained 15lbs and my acens been getting rlly bad i feel pergant, but i took 3 test and they said negative!!!!Is this normal after getting off the shot?????

i was on the depo for 4 years and i been off for 6 months, i get sick every other day and i cant sleep, i sleep about 4 house if im lucky i feel so sick right i stared my p again and i lasted 21 days and my last one lasted 20 days when is it going to be ok

I have been on this shot for year half now. Trying find out why i keep having headaches. Well now im off of it. Im so depression and cant sleep and keep having chills cold and hot. All i want to do is lay down. How long does it take to go away? Tired of being depression..

I do not recommend Mirena to ANYONE! I got the Mirena and had horrible symptoms, much worse than with the Depo. I hate both of them but the Mirena brought me to the point where I wanted nothing to do with anyone, not my husband, not my kids, no one. Not to mention all the physical damage it did. My legs felt achy all the time, I was severely depressed, so much so that I started seeing a therapist and she insisted it wasn't from the Mirena. Ok crazy lady, she was out of her mind! My Doctor told me to stick it out for 3 months so I did. It was the worst 3 months of my life! I got it removed as soon as I could and as soon as I left that office, I instantly felt better! Please don't get this put into your body.

I was on The depo shot in march 2012 n missed my second shot n june cuz started bleedin was told nt to get it whn bleedin so didnt thn wnt to the ogbyn clinic n they told me they couldnt c me unless i had insurance so got insurance thn got it again bt been bleeding since june 2012 nw im takin daily vitamins n iron pills to c if it wrks ive lossed lot of blood it makes me sad cuz i wnt to have a family n hope this dnt effect it also some more side effects r depression, anger, bleeding, always tyred, wakin up feeling sad, loss of sex drive, n fatigue. I dnt thnk it was a good idea i regret it nw cuz i was havin nomal periods only lastin 4 days nw Im contantly bleeding it bothers me alot i agree they should take it off market. Ppl should knw wht there doing whn they open there legs n the consequences behind it. Wear rubbers or pull out i think my x mite have damaged my insides.

Also thought i was pregnate twice after the depo cuz my breast got very sensitive n my belly got big bt took test n they were negative i want my bleeding to stop anyone have suggestions

Hello ladies, I just wanted to put my depo story here just in case there's another woman who is going through the same thing as all of us. I started the depo May 2012. I was fine until the 3rd shot! After the 3rd shot my hell began with hot flashes, nausea, night sweats, watery weird discharge, bloating, constipation, weak legs, anxious, chest pains, fast heart beat, out of breath fast, anxiety, not able to sleep, facial hair like hairs growing on my chin, hair loss and just weird feelings through my body. My last shot was in February, and i was suppose to get my 4th shot May 3rd. I didn't go! I wanted to see of the depo was causing everything. Now, it is July 26 and it has been almost 3 months since i've been off the depo shot. Sine i been off the depo i been having a lot of discharge, extreme nausea, cannot fall asleep at bedtime, very oily skin like my face around my nose and forehead, mood swings, one day i have an appetite and the next day i won't, and i just started bleeding 2 days ago (july24 is when i started) it is heavy bleeding. It is more like when using the bathroom blood will come out, and i can see it when i wipe (tmi sorry). Since being off the depo some of my symptoms did leave. I did not think they were from the depo shot, so i googled...and there i had every illness possible which scared me. Ladies, do not self diagnose yourselves. It will make things worse. We are experiencing all these horrible symptoms and etc coming off the depo is because our bodies are trying to get back on track such as getting our periods. Also, our bodies was so use to getting that high/strong dose of hormones that it is withdrawaling now that we are not getting it anymore. We all have to be strong and have faith. Everyone if you can list emails and etc (abbrev if ya have to such as yaho dot com becuase this site wont list email addresses here) that way we all can have someone to talk about all this since we all are going through the same stuff. Hang in there. It will go away and get better. Once you get your period everything should start looking up!!!
