Hi ladies, I am now 29 and have been on depo since I was 17 years old. I decided to now come off it and have been off it for a few months. Since then, I have noticed pimples in the weirdest places, periods every two weeks, very sore tender breasts, and an increase in libido. My poor body is taking a while to readjust as I guess it was so used to the drug. Hopefully things should get back to normal after 6 months or so. I found I was fine whilst on the injection and appreciated NOT getting periods. I guess I just wanted to see if anyone else out there has been on depo for the same length of time and has fallen pregnant ok?

I took the shot January 2015 and immediately noticed something was wrong. I lost my sex drive, gained 10-15 pounds, remained bloated, had issues sleeping, incredibly agitated, always fatigued, and felt pregancy symptoms the entire time. I developed horrible acne in November and severe cramping and nausea. I never went back for the second shot. It is December 2015 and I am just now getting my period back. I will never do this again and do not advise anyone to take this horrible shot.

Hi there, I was on Depo for 7 years and due my last injection 2 months ago, which I didn't get. Since then I've constantly felt dizzy, sick to the stomach, moody and REALLY tired. My breasts are swollen and I feel bloated all the time. No bleeding yet and I didn't bleed the whole time I was on Depo. Reading through all these comments I now realise these are normal side effects of coming off and certainly hope they go soon!

I was on the Depo Provera injection for 20 years. I recently went off and had my period within three months of when my next injection would have been due. I have had my period now four times in two months. I have been struggling with night sweats, head aches, fatigue, increased appetite, increased sexual drive, tender breasts and vaginal discharge. I really enjoyed being on the Depo Provera injection and I'm considering going back on but I'm now leery of one day having again to go through the side effects of coming off. These last few months have not been fun at all!

Thank you for giving me hope. Everything I'm reading is scaring the life outta me for getting off depo! I didn't go in for my next shot appointment and am deciding to get off. I totally expect to have withdraws after two years of being on it, but man these comments are worrying me.

I am so glad that i found someone who has had some symptoms similar to mines while coming off depo... i have been on depo for six years! And i swear, my body has build an immunity for it...i am a full time nursing student, and decided the end of last year to come off it..well that was the biggest mistake to do because once i stopped taking depo, my grades began to drop, i began to become really tired, increased sex drive, mood swings, lack of interest ..i told my doctor, i felt my body changing, but not changing for the worse... ladies just be prepared for the withdral symptoms after being on it for so long... ugh..TERRIBLE. .

I only had one depo shot in March this year and was ment to top up the start of June. My withdrawal symptoms have been disgusting and can possibly be the end of my 3 year relationship. In the week before I was ment to get my shot I became depressed, considered suicide even though I just started a new job and everything was looking better. I'm very irritable, bloated and I've currently been on my period for a month and a week. When going to the doctors they have no clue what to do with me which is soo frustrating. Only plus of this depo is while on it I lost a lot of weight since I had no appetite at all. I would not suggest this until they look into the withdrawal symptoms a lot better.

I've been on depo for about 10 years now, I'm 33 years old and I wanted to know how long I can stay on it cause I've been told I can't use depo till menopause and what it will be like coming off it as I've heard it's like going through the menopause

I have been off the shot for about 3 months now and feel sick all of the time. I thought I was pregnant as well but took test and the results were negative. I’ve been sick to my stomach, depressed, don’t want to leave my house, cry a lot for no reason at all, fight with my fiancé about everything. I’m missing work because I don’t feel good at all and don’t want to take care of patients while I feel like this..idk what to do.
