I have muscle spasms caused by sprain. Doctor prescribed me flexaril and physical therapy. I feel better now; this drug gives me relief of muscular pain. I need information about side effects of flexeril. Doctor told me to use flexaril for 3 weeks, but I am not sure if it would be enough.

Flexaril should not be used for longer than 3 weeks. The type of injury that is treated with flexaril should improve in a few weeks; there is no need for longer period of usage. Side effects that may occur are dry mouth, dizziness and drowsiness. You should not drive or operate dangerous machinery during treatment with flexeril. You should also avoid alcohol while taking flexeril.

Why should this drug be taken for no longer than 3 weeks, and by whose say so? I have been taking this medication for several months by Dr.s orders for neck, shoulder & back pain. I'm shocked to read this.

Are flexaril and valium basically the same? Is it alright to take them together in the same day (I would use them for spasms)?
