Thank you for the valuable information. My mother is 80 years old and has late stage Alzheimers. During the last four months, I have noticed that she has been having a bit of diluted watery blood in her diaper -- generally once a week on average.
Other than Alzheimers, she does not have any other medical issues. She is healthy and I make her exercise on the floor bike paddle thirty minutes in the am, 30 minutes in the aftertoon and 15 minutes in the everning. In addition, she walks 10 minutes on the daily basis. All of this is done with assistance since she is a fall risk. Her mobility (walking) has decreased significantly and she does not want to walk due to fear of falling and she says she cannot walk.
Meds administered include excelon patch 13.3 mg, Seroquel 25 mg in am, 25 mg in the afternoon and 100 mg at bed time to help her with sleep and agitation. She also takes one cephalexin 500mg antibiotic pill to prevent UTI., 1000mg vitamin C. She is on a toileting schedule where she goes every 1-1.5 hour for urination however at times the last time she urinates is either 3:30pm or 5:30pm. She says she wants to urinate but she cannot so I am thinking because of her age her bladder should be totally full before she is able to urinate. I always ask her if she has a burning sensation (possible UTI) Thank youshe says no. I have also checked her urine and she does not have UTI. FYI, I give her 75 ounce of liquid including water on a daily basis.
Over 25 years ago, she had fibroid and her OBGYN who is now retired determined that surgery was not necessary since the tumors were not malignant. I have scheduled an appointment with her doctor however I was wondering if the discharge could be due to the fibroids growing or possibly cancer?
Please advise. I am just asking for the possibilities. I realize she needs to be seen by her doctor.
Many thanks,
Sherie
