Hello!

I am a horseback rider, and unfortunately, I wore the WRONG underwear to ride in, yesterday!!!! I've had problems with rawness and soreness before, but when I got home and used a mirror to look, I discovered a small tear on the posterior edge of my left labium. At least I think it's a tear - there's a separation of skin that is not mirrored on the right side. There was no bleeding, however.

My question is this - is there ANYTHING I can do to facilitate healing??? Neosporin? Any homeopathic remedies???

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Most healing  just takes  time, a little anti-infection cream ( neosporin ) and a little lube to protect the spot if you keep riding. My cheaper alternative to patented jellypantz protection is  high heel gel insoles available at every drug store inserted into the liner all my underwear come with. I simple sliced the back of the fabric panel open like the front and slide the gel cushion through- high heel ones are slimmer in the middle and fit perfect- but can be cut narrower if you need to . It helps while I am learning to trot- as I am a beginner rider and am pretty amazed at how much the seated trot hurts.  Hope that helps :)

Thanks for the tip on the insoles. I am really hurting right now from a very long and difficult dressage clinic where most of the work was in the sitting trot. Yikes, I am going to really set myself up with a system that doesn't end up in having to stop riding for a week or so, that's a drag. Thanks again
