Hi, i have been on the pill for nearly a year now and i have had no problems at all with it, about a week ago i was taking antibiotics for a bad tooth ach, so i stopped having sex, i finished the antibiotics yesturday, how long should i wait till i can have unprotected sex? please answweerr meee: :)

Your doctor should really let you know about this- BAD DOCTOR!haha! You should wait a minimum of 7 days before having unprotected sex (7 days from the finish of the antibiotic course). Thats the time frame given for most pills. However it might be different for other ones (Ive heard lately there are pills which need to be taken for a month when you start taking them for the 1st time - so if you are on one of these types then id ask your doctor).

Antibiotics can affect the pill's efficacy therefore it is appropriate to just pretend you havent taken it when taking antibiotics (although you might as well carry on taking it to try and stop spotting), therefore after finishing the antibiotics just pretend you are starting the pill for the very 1st time! That is why they usually say 7 days which is applicable when starting the pill for the 1st time.
