My whole life, my discharge has been mostly whiteish and somewhat pasty. About 3 months ago, I was on antbiotics, amoxacillin, which I became allergic to,(skin rash), and had to switch to clyndamycin. I developed the abnormal discharge a couple of days after starting the amoxacillin. I thought it normal just because of being on the meds, so didn't worry too much. Now I've been med free for 2 months, but the discharge remains. I'm 46 years old, and am wondering if this has somehow messed with my hormones and will clear up, or if it jump started menopause or if it's a more serious issue. I had a tubal ligation 23 years ago, so I'm not pregnant, and my periods have been 1 week closer together and 2 days shorter since the antbiotics.

Hi hon: Due to your age, you will be coming into Menopause, I am 44 and my friends are 44/45 and they are ALL in menopause, I had a hysterectomy 8 years ago, so mine is a bit delayed. Your periods will be wonky and thus your hormones. The clear stretchy discharge will be hormone changes too, is it itchy or smelly? If so that could be a yeast infection which ALWAYS happens after anitbiotic use. So get 7 day Monistat and eat probiotics so it counter affects your infection.

You don't need to go to a doctors for a yeast infection, I guarantee you have one. So use the 7 day not the 3 or 5, and take the probiotics. And welcom too the "CHANGE!!!!!" :$ XD ;-) o.O Good luck hope this helps!

That's pretty much what I thought. No odor or itching. Thanks for the reassurance! That would explain my absent mindedness! :-|

Stretchy discharge is normally linked to ovulation as you probably know. That kind of discharge is clear and slimy. I'm not sure if that is what you are experiencing?

I agree that the perimenopause really changes things, and those changes can suddenly come very quickly. You may not have a period one month, and then several weird periods in close succession later. Just remember that you can still get pregnant during this time and if you don't want that, make sure to stay on the birth control (whatever method) just a few years longer.

I've had yeast infections before, but they always itch. I'm not convinced this is one, though it is certainly possible.

PLEASE tell me that you meant that you started a NEW pack on Friday not you started the 1st time?!!! Because IF you started the 1st time on a Friday - which is unusual because most start on Sunday! The unprotected sex is NOT protected from pregnancy! Didn't your doctor tell you to use a condom for a month?

Thats not true. My doctor told me that as long as I started taking my birth control pills on the first day of my period that I would be protected from pregnancy immediately and did not need to wait a month before having unprotected sex. I didn't get pregnant. However spotting is common in early pregnancy which could be what your "light period" was. Just to be safe you might want to by an early pregnancy test. Hope this helps! :-D

What BCP was that?!! I have NEVER heard of any pill protecting under 7 days!! Also not everyone gets pregnant every time they have unprotected sex! Each pill IS different, because of the cocktail of hormones they have! BUT I doubt there is a pill out there that will 99% protect you by day 3! I just hope that this original poster has symptoms of the BCP and NOT a pregnancy

Just so everyone is clear on the birth control issue, If you are starting a pack on the first day of your period, you are protected fully after you take the first pill. If you start a pack on a sunday start, you need to use a backup method of birth control for 7 days, after that you are fully protected. I'm very strict on my birth control pill taking because I don't want to be pregnant at this time. If you had to take a whole pack of pills before you'd be protected, I wouldn't waste my money! (especially because I'm uninsured).

Anyway, clear and stretchy discharge is a sign that you are fertile, but I'm still reading into it more, because if the other person mentioned they got it a few days after their period you wouldn't be ovulating that soon.

I had sex for the first time without protection. Both my boyfriend and I were virgins, so we were unfamiliar with the feeling and he said he pulled out before he cam and I wiped afterwards, but I'm still stressing on the fact that I could get pregnant. It's been about 5 days and my discharge is clear and stretchy and last night I threw up 2 times, but my cousin was throwing up the same morning and she had been sleeping over for 2 nights in a row. Also my boyfriend was sick and throwing up the night before I was, so it could just be a bug going around. Anyway I just really don't want to get pregnant and I was wondering if these signs could mean anything.
