After going through all the posts I am relieved that I am not alone. Also a little disappointed that this is such a common problem with no permanent solution. Like most of you I was on Femilon for 5 years and stopped 3 weeks ago. Since 3 days I have been having vaginal inflammation and itching. Now I recollect that I had the same issue for few months when I started the pill 5 years ago. Lost as to my next course of action, because towards the end Femilon gave me severe acid reflux. After spending many sleepless nights due to acidity I decided to go off the pill, now this! May be it was a bad idea to ever start taking the pill :/

Has anyones symptoms got better? I am 38, was on birth control before and after partial hysterectomy to stop cysts from forming. I was taken off birth control last December thinking I would be ok without it. Ever since then I have had chronic yeast infections, utis, and a lot of unexplained nausea. I have been to so many DRs and everyone insists the pills has nothing to do with it but that was the only change with my body. Hoping for help with this.

Hi i was wondering if any of you ladies can help me? I came off the pill cerazette 5 or 6 months ago and the first month i was fine. Then after a night of sex (partner of 10yrs) the following day and since then iv had discomfort down there i feel like high up internal itching and burning and almost like i have to force me wee out (not sure if its related or somethin different) some slight burning upon wee'ing but more just vaginal burning in general. Iv had urine tests swabs and ultrasound and all clear. It just seems weird that it came on after stopping the pill. Im not sure if its down to dryness or not? Its been 5 or 6 months now n although not as bad as the start its still niggling at me. Wev hardly had sex since so babys dont seem to happening lol. Iv got a referral to a uro-gynecologist but as its such a specialist thing there is a 7 month waiting list. Do my symptoms sound like anythin u ladies r experiencing? And how long have u been dealing with it for? Thanks x

About two to three week off of the pill I was diagnosed with a yeast infection. The first week I just had a slight sting when I would use the bathroom, but nothing to serious. It wasn't until the end of the second week when things got really bad. I began getting the bad itching and discharge. A few days later I began my cycle. It sound like you are in the early stage of one. I hope this help.

Not sure who may read this but here's my experience. 6 weeks ago I was finishing an antibiotic. I had the raw burning sensation afterwards. Figured a yeast infection. This did not go away after using 3 day monostat and Diflucan. I also had bright red blood when I wiped for 2 days. Gyno said this is normal with some yeast infections. Anyway in midst of this about a week after the antibiotic I had stopped my birth control. I had it planned before this supposed yeast infection. Well needless to say I have been going thru hell with the most uncomfortable burning raw feeling down there. Some days are better than others. (Not an Std. Was tested and had routine culture which was fine) I also had my urine checked and it was fine. I just get these odd sensations down there. I've never ever had a problem before. It's getting me down and depressed. I just wan answers. I saw my gyno 3 times. All said it is normal. Not thing is wrong, no more yeast. Suggested I am allergic to something. But I already had changed detergent / soap etc. no relief. So after reading this I'm Thinking it is due to stopping the BC. I was on several different times but never once stopped It like this. I was on gianvi for about 3 years is say. So I'm frustrated. I have an appt with my PCP to see if they can help or refer me to a better gyno. Mine didnt seem to care. This is way too irritating. Plus I have no sex life right now!!! It's terrible. Any advice would be great full.

Hi, I too have had all the same symptoms as all of you after stopping birth control. I was on it for 2 years and after stopping it completely, I started having recurring yeast infections every month for 9'months. I was taking the vaginal medicine every month with it just coming back the next month. I was frustrated so I began my own treatment! They have a probiotic yogurt drink called kefir which I buy the plain so I don't add to the yeast with more sugar. I also tried to cut down sweets and carbs. This really helped in building up my good bacteria and helping my body get back to normal. If you are having yeast infections over and over-don't take the medicine because it's just killing all your good bacteria and your body can't fight it. I also think that birth control really messed up my body and then my body stopped producing the hormones my body needed because the pill was doing all the work. I'm never going on birth control again! I thought I was over the yeast infections but now I'm 8 months pregnant with our third child and I just got a yeast infection! I took medicine from the doctor and seemed like it was better. Now a week later the infection is coming back and I'm starting kefir again hoping that will help. I don't know if my body will ever be normal after birth control because I only had 1 yeast infection in my life before this!

I can't believe I haven't found this on any other website. I'm having the same problem! I was on cryselle low-dose BC for about 2 1/2 years. A few months ago I noticed severe nausea and false prego symptoms every month. I quit taking them mid-pack about a month ago. My mood has become much more stable and my mind feels very clear. I had false bleeding for about two days somewhere after a week of quitting the BC. I used to get a very small yeast infection every month theweek before my period, it would go away when the period began. Since quitting, my period came about a week early. Now two weeks after period, I have a horrid yeast infection. It's burning like he'll and coming out like crazy! I've been taking AZO and Priobiotics for three days to no avail. Eating yogurt and garlic like mad every day. I also tried an Apple Vinegar bath which did not help. I used to use the summers eve sensitive body wash to restore Ph, but I'm scared to put anything down there right now. I'll be calling the doc Monday morning. I've never had a gyno exam before, I just turned 20 a few weeks ago... Hopefully it won't come back this horribly every month!

I have been having a similar problem since coming off of my birth control about a month or two ago. I have a history of yeast and bacterial infections but they have always come on very strong and progressed rapidly. This has been a constant twingy itch that I feel from time to time, and it practically disappeared during my period this past week. But now I feel like it's flaring up and starting to burn as well.

Hi, I too was on microgynon and came off as I'm now in my 40s and my husband has had a vasectomy.
The itching and burning and also swelling now and again is unbearable and won't go away, I've used vagisil which helps slightly, I've been to my go and she thinks it's my hormones and put me on Esteril cream. My breasts hurt too.
Hope it's all cleared up for you now

Thank you! This would make sense for me since I'm on my 4th month of a progesterone only birth control and I finally stopped spotting, which I'm assuming means my body is finally getting used to it. I also realized today that my boobs are noticeably smaller than before I started, and even compared to late high school. Your comment gave me some relief, so thank you. Fingers crossed it goes away. :)

Btw, do we know if it's bad to itch? Does it make it worse?
