Hi.
I have seen a lot of posts here by people distressed about the drug seroquel. If you are one of the rare people that have no side effects, and find it helpful, then good for you. But I warn the rest of you of the terrible terrible side effects that can happen in more extreme cases.
Some psychiatrists just prescribe drugs. I was put on lithium and went into toxic shock because the psychiatrist could not be bothered regulating my bloodtests like he was supposed to. I was put on seroquel and.. some antidepressent. He kept upping the dose every time I complained that it made me feel worse.
I became really cold and jittery all the time. Really bad anxiety. Stopped brushing my teeth or talking to people. Gained 20 kgs. Palpitations. Could not concentrate or do anything. Got really tired all the time. Got paranoid all the time. Could not keep a job for more then a week. Began badly failing university. The list goes on. It was really terrible.
Then I found out my liver was failing and my white blood cell count had droppped to an AIDS patients level. Had to spend a lot of time in hospitals. Started vomitting like 20-30 times a day.
I found a really great psychiatrist, (and ditched the old one), and she figured out the drugs were doing this all so they stopped it cold turkey. All of a sudden.
I started acting really out of character.. did terrible things. Acted very erratically. Also my memory started getting really messed up.
After a few weeks, i was completely back to normal. Really happy, no anxiety, and back to my normal weight.
