34 weeks pregnant and taking percocet

The big question is, why are you taking percocet?  Was it prescribed?  Do they know you're pregnant?

 

Hi, I was taking it for tooth pain. My dental ins finally kicked in so I took care of that yesterday. No it wasn't prescribed. And yes I have had prenatal care this whole time. Every thing has always been great, (tests, exams, etc)

I'm down to 7.5 today but I really didn't want to take it bc I wasn't feeling any withdrawals :-) but I did bc I'm not sure my baby did or not so until I talk to my doc, I don't want to stop cold turkey.

If it has only been a few days you can just stop taking it - cold turkey.

FYI, you really shouldn't be taking anything, especially a prescription drug, when you're pregnant OR if you are nursing without checking with your doctors. There are unknown risks during pregnancy but it can cause breathing problems in newborns. It CAN pass along in your breast milk as well.

FYI, nobody can broadly answer that bc it's a case by case basis!!! Your O.B would need to monitor the fetal movements and such while you have Percocet in your system to ensure there's no damage being done. Personally, my doc had me on Tylenol 3 and then Vicodin during the last two trimesters if my last pregnancy bc my baby was in my sciatic and there was no damage to my son or me. The answer to withdrawals in your baby is YES.... Yes the baby will. My baby had them for a couple weeks after birth but then he was okay. ***** AND BTW!!!! TESTS HAVE SHOWN THAT THE AMOUNT OF MEDS THAT ACTUALLY MAKE IT THROUGH YOUR SYSTEM AND THROUGH BREASTMILK ARE A TRIVIAL AMOUNT AND NO HARM TO YOUR BABY!!!!!***** hospitals wouldn't even prescribe it after birth if it was said to be a harm for the baby!!!!!!!!

I'm 30 weeks pregnant and been taking percocets my whole pregnancy off & on, but I've stopped this week. Will my baby have withdrawal at birth?
