I am having surgery on the 27th (my birthday...FYI) and I have read so many horror stories. I am a military spouse so I have chosen to have my surgery on base...not too promising! I have heard from surgical friends that my doc is great but for some reason, it doesn't make it better.

I played roller derby and started having sciatica after a fall 6 months ago. I have done pain meds, neuro meds (whatever those were...they seemed to just make me moody), cortizone shot (lasted about a week), cortizone in SI joint...just in case(not my idea and didnt work at all!!!) and now my doc says surgery is the next best thing. I am excited to have surgery and scared at the same time.

I dont plan on playing roller derby anymore (obviously) but I would like to know any recent info about people who have had positive recorvery from surgery. I am worried about reherniation and any "pre-tips" would be well appreciated!!!
