I will try to make this post brief and to the point.
I have had a bleeding hemorrhoid for many years that has become worse over time.
I have tried just about every "remedy" that I have read about.
I was booked in for surgery after seeing a specialist who advised it was the thing to do.
I read the post op "horror stories" on this forum and decided to go "all out" to try to get them under control in other ways..with no luck.
Now the good news..I went the see my Doctor about another issue I had. I had a blood test which showed that I was iron deficient and also had low testosterone.
So I have been put on both a male HRT (Andriol) and an iron supplement (ferro-gardument)
I am not sure if the Andriol has played ant part in what has happened..I think it is mainly the iron sup...(but I cant be sure)
The doc told me the iron sup would make my stools darker and harder...so..I really expected my bleeding hemorrhoid to become worse..but to my surprise and delight...it seems to be getting better.
I have been on these meds for about 2 weeks..and although I am slightly constipated and my movements are not as often..the result is that I have been bleeding only a very small amount since being on the meds...and..in the last few days...no bleeding at all!
I guess it is too early to make a full judgment but it certainly seems as if the meds are having a very positive effect on what was a major problem..
I will keep you posted as to my progress.. and hope this information can assist others with similar problems.
Cheers
Scott

It has been over a week since my 1st post and I am feeling better than I have in years!...
Things are the same ( harder stools with some constipation)..so I really don't understand...Everything I have ever read about hemorrhoids seems WRONG (in my case anyway).."make stools softer..make sure your not constipated"....
Its all adding up to me believing that the Medico's have the whole hemorrhoid thing wrong!..
I am no Doctor but all I can think off is that my "deficiencies" were causing some type of "acidic" reaction in my digestive tract that was causing inflammation of the "roids"...
This also makes sense to me in regard to females getting hemorrhoids after childbirth.,..not from the physical effects of the birth..but from the chemical changes (deficiencies) that are associated with pregnency.
I know we are all different but for me to go from where I was... (bleeding every single day and for extended periods..using half a role of toilet paper..and worrying that I had lost so much blood that I would have a serious problem)....to now...with more than a week of zero bleeding..and three weeks of getting progressively better....is to my mind... amazing!
I am still just taking 2x Andriol caps per day and 1x ferro-gardument per day. I have not changed anything else in my diet and am not on any other medication.
I guess it is still too early to say my condition is totally gone...but at this stage it certainly seems that way.
I truly hope this information may help others like myself to get back to a "normal" life.
Cheers
Scott Barclay.
