My father has been an alcoholic for all my life, and I am grateful to say that I didn't grow up with him in the house. Lately, I have been trying to get to know him better, and be there for him. Since, I have found out that he is suffering from paranoid frantic psychosis ideas. Is this linked to alcoholism in any way.

Absolutely. My own theory is that people with mental illness often turn to alcohol and rugs to escape the chaos in their own head, and sometimes even to give them a sense of control over their lives. With some patients you can wonder if the psychosis was alcohol induced, but in almost all cases I think that underlying mental illness or post traumatic stress syndrome was the cause of the alcoholism, and not the other way round.
