Perhaps I am giving too much importance to this, but I think that my friend's frantic ideas may have been induced by a tox-infective psychosis. He has been addicted to various drugs, on and off, for the past few years and while he was never quite normal, I am sure that his current psychosis was at least worsened by the drugs. I certainly agree with you that a psychosis could be drug induced. On the other hand, there are also many people who are addicted to drugs and yet never fall victim to psychosis. That makes me think that psychosis must be a combination of factors - genetic factors, current circumstances of a person, and drugs as well. Hope that helps.
