I am allergic to paracetamol and sulpha as well. most of the pain killers seem to have it. I have this allergy for last 15 years now, i am 30 now. When i take crocin (exanple) the allergy shows symptoms in around 10 mins. it gets harder and harder to breathe. These episodes have happened with me at least a dozen of times (because, for years, i didn't know what exactly i was allergic to) My face swells. Doctor told me, i have to be at the emergency within 25 minutes of the symptoms, because it can kill me. It has come very close to killing me on a couple of occasions. result of this, i am scared to take antibiotics.

Hi, I too am allergic to paracetamol. It was discovered when I was a child. For years every time I filled out a medical form or visited a hospital the inevitable question arose ' Do you suffer from any allergies? ' Of course I got looked at as if I had two heads when I mentioned paracetamol as one allergy as it is very rare for someone to be allergic to it.
My sister in law is a pharmacist and suggested that I may not be allergic to it anymore as I hadn't taken any paracetamol medication since I was a child.
Recently I visted the dentist and had a tooth pulled which left me in agony. My usual painkiller (Ibruphen) just didnt take the edge off the pain so I decided to try paracetamol to see if I was still allergic to it. The answer is YES, I am! I woke up during the night with my nightclothes drenched in sweat and a vey itchy rash down the inside of both my arms and also feel itchy all over! Now I know for definate that I am allergic I will be staying well clear from paracetamol.

Hey Laura,

I am the exact same as you. My throat gets tight and then i have a massive coughing for almost brings on an asthma attack. Last for about an hour and i have to drink 2l of water to either make myself sick or flush it out quicker. I never have a problem with ibuprofen.

Your husband is not allergic to Paracetamol but is sensitive to it. I also suffer the same effects after ingesting paracetamol tablets. Better to seek alternative drug.

My situation is slightly different from what others have written here.

I started off allergic to NSAIDs (ibuprofen, neurofen, codeine, voltaren...), so any anti-inflammatory meds cause my eyes to swell up like a fish. Was able to take Paracetamol and Anarex though.

Fast forward to today, I just came back from the doc who confirmed that I have now developed an allergy to Anarex and maybe even pure Paracetamol.

This to me is the end of the world. What am I going to take now for regular fevers?? I bet if I have to do surgery that docs can't give me anything now! Anyone has any suggestions on meds that are not listed above that could be a replacement?
