Hello, I am allergic to Paracetamol. If I take one dose I will start to sweat after about one minute. Then... my body convulses and I pass out. I have been told never to take it again unless I want a bed in a coma unit. Now, because of heart disease, I can not take ibuprofen. My back is out and I have muscle spasms. What can I take?

Paracetamol is a pain reducing or pain relieving drug. It is generally prescribed in the case of headache, backache, pain, toothaches, fever, muscle aches, arthritis, and fevers. The reaction of any medicine depends person to person. Some may found paracetamol allergic, skin infections are also seen. it has other side effects like dark coloured urine and stool, stomach pain, loss of appetite and jaundice.

Take this medicine as per prescribed by the doctor because extreme use of paracetamol leads to liver damage. Do not take after alcohol, do not use this medicine empty stomach; this may lead to high blood pressure.

Unfortunately, I am allergic to paracetamol too. I have seen change in urine color after taking paracetamol and increase in my blood pressure. I consult to doctor regarding this, he prescribed me ibuprofen. There are many other painkillers available such as naproxen, ketoprofen, Nabumetone, Aspirin, Morphine, Codeine etc. Please consult to doctor before taking these medicines.

Hope this helps you. Good Luck.

Hi there,

I am allergic to paracetomol, my throat swells up, I can't really breathe and get flu like symptoms like runny nose and coughing. As a kid my parents used to always give me panadol, I'm not sure why I'm getting this reaction as an adult.

I too am sensitive to Paracetamol now.

I took this drug before, with no adverse effects.

Last night I woke up all in severe hives. (hips, thighs, chest, back; none on the head, hands, neck or arms). The hives are itchy for a time. New ones pop up when the older ones subdue - sort of like moving across the body.

The only medication I had been taking was Paracetamol so I am 100% this is not reaction to any other drug. I am not allergic to any other factors.

I am shocked by what I am reading here with so many people with identical symptoms. The leaflet (APAP, EU version) says 'rash'. What I have is not a 'rash' - I am literally covered in hives from knees to elbows. This looks very serious.

Hi,

I posted just below you. I am in the same basket - same itchy hives. Trying to limit the allergy with a topic anti-histamine gel now. Wondering if you found a way to get rid of the allergy. If so, what medicine did you use?

Same here. No rushes, itches or anything else but these some symptoms. Plus it makes me so drowsy that I fall asleep and nobody can wake me up for hours. I lose my consciousness for few hours.

Hi same story here, I have been taken paracetamol all my life and few days ago I had saver abdominal pain, my husband stopped at one of the shop and bought Panadol extra, I tool it and after 2 hours my skin because itchy, then my tongue swoll up and I was covered with itchy hives all over my legs and back. My doctor prescribed me Prednisone and Piriton and when I took those two drugs my condition because worse, I could not breath and I was covered with very itchy hives all over my body, I stopped steroids and was contuniu with piriton until O realised that I am extremely allergic to piriton too. I took one tablet of Prevallergy and it works like magic after 15 minutes rash gone. But I am still taking it as I still have a bit of rash once it wears of. I was told to take for 7 days. I never knew that one can be allergic to antihistamines too. So my doctor told me to stay away from paracetamol at all cost, prom piriton and Prednisone because next time reaction will be more sever. Paracetamol is a poison drug that's why our immune system response because it can case serious liver and kidney damage.

Since young, i have been taking paracetamol whenever I have a headache. Then, when i was in my late 30s, i became allergic to it. When I popped a pill, i will get swollen eyes and rashes over my face. My doctor prescribed several type of medicines whenever I have fever and he came to the conclusion that I cannot take NSAIDS and paracetamol. So, to relieve pain, I now take tramadol which my body can accept.

I am allergic to Panadol or anything containing it. So I take Disprin or Aspro. You could try Disprin or Aspro after consulting your doctor.

Hi Laura
I have always been able to use panadol and I very rarely take them but yesterday morning after waking up with a headache I took two. I threw up and my throat closed over so that I could not breathe. I had been at a singing rehearsal that night so not sure if this contributed.

MAFTAL 500 is suggested. Highly effective in such a case.
