Hi, I have problems with my joints. It is caused by rheumatoid arthritis. I am going to the doctor tomorrow. By the phone, he told me that he has the results of some analyzes and that he will probably give me some drug called Arava. I am already taking some medications and I am worried about possible interactions. Can you tell me which are the drugs that Arava interacts with?

Cholestyramine should be avoided in combination with Arava because its effectiveness is decreased. Methotrexate or rifampin should be avoided too because of possible side effect that includes liver toxicity, muscle pains and headaches. Anticoagulants risks like risk of bleeding are increased with Arawa. Anyway, you should inform your doctor about all the medicines you are taking and he will tell you what to do.
