I've been struggling with premature ejaculation and I'm thinking of using a type of product called delay spray. I've looked into different ones out there like Promescent and Steady Freddy (yeah, weird name). They're supposed to desensitize your penis so you can last longer. Do these products generally work with helping men last longer during sex? Are these products safe to be using regularly?

Hello.

Delay sprays, such as Promescent or Steady Freddy, are products designed to help with premature ejaculation (PE) by desensitizing the penis. They typically contain an anesthetic like lidocaine or benzocaine, which reduces sensitivity to delay ejaculation. Here's a general overview of their effectiveness and safety:

  1. Desensitization: The anesthetic in these sprays reduces penile sensitivity, which can help delay ejaculation in men with PE.
  2. Variable Results: The effectiveness can vary from person to person. Some men report significant improvement in their ability to control ejaculation, while others find less benefit.
  3. Usage and Timing: It's important to follow the instructions for use. Typically, the spray is applied a short time before intercourse and allowed to absorb to reduce the risk of transferring the numbing effect to a partner.

When used as directed, these sprays are generally considered safe for occasional use. However, overuse or misuse can lead to issues. Potential side effects include temporary loss of sensitivity, mild burning or itching, and in rare cases, allergic reactions.

If not fully absorbed, it can transfer to a partner, causing temporary numbness. The safety of long-term, regular use has not been extensively studied. It's generally advised to use these products as a temporary solution while exploring other treatment options.

Delay sprays can be an effective and safe short-term solution for some men with PE, but individual results vary. It's important to use them according to instructions and consider them as part of a broader treatment strategy.

Good luck!
