Hi,
I recently found out I'm 7 weeks pregnant and am at high risk for a miscarriage due to the fact that prior to my confirmation of pregnancy I was spotting and cramping, the risk has somewhat improved over the last week however in that last week I've developed a blood clot in the uterus that my doctor is concerned with, stating that the size of the blood clot can dislodge the baby from the sack. My question to the board is if anyone knows if a blood clot can grow in size or for that matter reverse it's self and shrink without actually discharging it's self? I ask as it's been 4 days since my doctors appt and her finding the blood clot and I haven't passed anything significant, only very very very tiny "strings" of blood, sorry didn't know how else to discribe :-( along with DARK brown blood but only when I wipe. Is it dangerous to have dark brown blood, could the blood become toxic in my uterus or anything like that.....If anyone can sheed ANY light on my concerns I'd be truly grateful....

I am currently 7weeks pregnant and was have spotted ranging from light to somewhat heavy 4 times within a month. I went to the doctor the first time, and was kinda brushed off (considering spotting in the first trimester isnt really unusual). Finally I went back to my doctor and explained what had been going on to her. They immediately did an ultrasound and found a large clot in my uterus, about twice the size of the sac. The clot can either expell itself, or get smaller, or stay there. Of course there is risk, and it puts you at a higher risk of misscarriage, but theres still a chance of a perfectly fine pregnancy. I have a 3 year old and everything went perfectly fine with her, never any spotting...nothing...the brown blood isnt bad, the bright red is.
Hopefully everything goes well!

I am currently 8 1/2 weeks pregnant with twins and have been on bed rest 3 times this pregnancy for bleeding. For the past week I've had a blood cot in my uterus after my second bout with bleeding. My MD said it would be in my favor if the clot didn't get bigger; however, the clot is sitting between the sacs of my babies which he said was not a good spot to be, but there could be worse. The never tell you straight up. So I'm on bed rest again to see if the clot will get smaller. I am also a Labor and Delivery nurse, so to let you know brown blood is just old blood, so its actually good to get rid of that. Bright red blood means there is a new bleed.
