Some women/girls experience brown discharge prior to their periods and this is nothing wrong. The discharge usually indicates that period’s coming.
I suppose there is nothing much you can do but wait for your period and see what happens then. If you continue to have brown discharge (brown indicating blood), after you period, you could see a gynecologist to see if there were an underlying consition.
If it doesn’t happen after the period’s over, then you should wait for your next period and see if it happens again. If it does, you could see a gyn, if not-it means that this discharge was just something transient and that even a gyn wouldn’t figure it out.
If there is a family history of ovarian cysts in your family, you could be experiencing this kind of problems as well, and ovarian cysts could cause vaginal spotting/bleeding, pain during ovulation, pain during intercourse, pain during periods, etc. It is nothing dangerous and it usually go away on its own but should be looked at anyway if the discharge persists just to make sure.

It can take a couple of years for your period to settle down into a pattern, since you are not sexually active I wouldn't worry if you skip a month here and there or if it comes a bit late or early. Brown discharge is usually old blood, which you would expect if your period is a bit later than expected. I don't think you have anything to worry about.
