For almost four years I have had brown spotting occur ten days before my period is due. It is not a lot and is kind of stringy. (sorry not trying to be gross) It usually lasts three days and then stops, about a week later my period comes and is normal.

A few times my mid cycle spotting has continued until my period came, but this has only been once or twice.

Over the last six months it seems to occur only every other month. I am 31 years old.

I had my yearly appointment yesterday and my Dr. wants to do an ultrasound and a biopsy to figure out what is going on.

I'm now scared, I hear the word biopsy and think cancer. She said a biopsy isn't just for cancer and is used to check all sorts of things in the uterine lining.

Has anyone ever experienced any of these things?
