I have been on depo for 2 years ish.....I am coming off it in two weeks cos I found out recently it caused me to have a blood clot in my leg last year :-( (I shouldnt really have been on it for all this time since!) Im 28, and I got a clot in my leg....its only now they have decided (they as in the nhs) that depo is the cause!!!!! I am sooooo angry!!!!!!! >:(
The other reason i want to come off it is I cant loose a pund of weight taking the injection depiste spending all my spare time at the gym and eating a healthy diet!!! Doctor reckons I wont loose weight till I come off it!!!! This injection is dangerous I hate it and I wouldnt recommend it to anyone....its scarey what it can do to you!!!!
Has anyone had any similar experiences on Depo.....Anyone lost weight on Depo?
And do you loose weight when it goes out your system??? I have heard your period can take up to 10months to return!!!!! I would love to hear how anyone else has gone on when they have come off this horrid injection!!!!! I cant wait!!!!!

I was on depo provera for a different reason. I had a hysterectomy on 3/1/10 and they put me on it for 3 months to burn out any residual endometriosis. They gave me the 3 mos dose shot every month for 3 months, so I was on 3x the normal dosage for birth control but they told me the correct amount for my treatment. In those 3 months, I have gained 10 lbs. This is the most horrible drug ever. I wish I would have known about that symptom prior to treatment and I would have asked for another option. I am a runner and very active so the fact that my mileage is going up but my weight (and it's not muscle believe me!!) keeps going up is very frustrating. I had my last shot on 5/1/10 and my weight is still going up. I am only praying this will stop in the next month or two and the weight will start coming off. I have been told that it will take 3 months for it to get out of my system but I certainly hope I don't have another 3 months of weight gain.
