I am researching the Medication Cymbalta which I was prescribed for chronic lower back pain. Over the last year I have experienced horrible dental problems with my teeth, so my question is, 'Has anyone else experienced dental problems while taking Cymbalta? If you have would you be so kind to e-mail me to let me know what you have experienced.

I NEVER EXPECTED THESE AFFECTS TO BE RELATED TO CYMBALTA... It was a HUGE HELP TO MY MIGRAINES, and my FIBROMYALGIA...
I just went off CYMBALTA, cuz of THE HEAVY SWEATING.. And soon THE DIARRHEA STOPPED...

I had a complete thyroidectomy in July 2020. 3 months after I had frozen shoulder and all kinds of joint issues. My PCP tried me on Paroxetine but then moved to Cymbalta. I did not like the feeling so I was supposed to take twice a day but only took one at night. I have my prescriptions auto refilled and the Cymbalta just fell off and I had to go cold turkey because it took a while to get it back. This method was horrible because the withdrawals can be really bad. I am now almost 2 weeks out of the med and finally my body is calming down. I went to my 6 month dental cleaning and they found 2 cavities and was quite shocked. I told them I can feel the air my teeth are so sensitive. I did not think it could be that I was on Cymbalta for 2 years and stopped until I started searching. Now that I think of it we had a crown that was not right and looking back this was affecting me probably because I was on the med so long. I am now quite happy to be far from it. I am looking to go as natural as I can going forward by eliminating the need for the med as well as buying fresh and cutting fake foods out of my home and life as much as is possible.

Thanks for reading!

Rapid tooth decay, hair loss, decreased appetite, and weight loss are not common side effects of Cymbalta, but they should still be reported to your healthcare provider. Your doctor may recommend additional testing or evaluation to rule out any underlying medical conditions that may be contributing to your symptoms.

If you and your healthcare provider decide to taper off Cymbalta, it's important to do so gradually and under medical supervision to avoid withdrawal symptoms. It's also important to be aware that tapering off Cymbalta can be a gradual process and may take several weeks or months, depending on the dose and how long you have been taking the medication.

In general, the recommended tapering schedule for Cymbalta involves gradually reducing the dose over a period of several weeks or months. This allows your body to adjust to the lower dose and helps minimize the risk of withdrawal symptoms.

Your healthcare provider may recommend reducing your Cymbalta dose by 20-50% every 4-7 days, depending on your individual situation. For example, if you are currently taking 60mg/day, your healthcare provider may recommend reducing your dose to 30mg/day for 4-7 days, and then reducing it further to 20mg/day for another 4-7 days, and so on.

It's important to follow your healthcare provider's instructions carefully and not to make any changes to your medication regimen without their guidance. Abruptly stopping Cymbalta can cause withdrawal symptoms, including dizziness, nausea, headaches, and insomnia.

During the tapering process, it's also important to take care of yourself by eating a healthy diet, staying hydrated, getting plenty of rest, and engaging in stress-reducing activities like exercise or meditation. Keeping an open line of communication with your healthcare provider is also crucial, as they can help monitor your progress and adjust your tapering plan if needed.

Almost all of my teeth have had major surgical dental procedures. I thought it could be the other antidepressants I take, but now I'm seeing the full picture. I like Cymbalta, so my question is is there another substitute without this effect.
