hey i can relate. i've been on the pill (trivora 28) for over a year now. I tend to skip periods by just skipping the placebo pills and starting a new pack. This is my third month now I've skipped my period, and I've recently noticed the same discharge you are talking about. At first I thought I was pregnant, but I've waited long enough and took a test, and its negative. I highly doubt you're pregnant. If you're unsure take a test after a few weeks. but. I would say its because you skipped your period. Just wait it out.

I was on yaz with the same problems - gross brown stuff. ew. I quit mid-cycle because I thought I was pregnant - had the most massive period of my life, and now i have the normal white lotiony discharge - DONT WORRY - its totally normal. The brown is indeed a side effect of pregnancy brought on my HOROMONES - and what is a birth control? [psst, its horomones =) the same ones!] It just makes your body think you're pregnant! thats why you get pregnancy side effects [nausea, discharge, breast tenderness] its nothing to worry about, I promise. If you are worried, talk to a doctor, but its not a serious deal unless you have more obvious pregnancy symptoms - eating a ton, and urinating a lotttt and often.

Well I have noticed alot of you have been on Yaz or some sort of BC Pill. I am experencing the same thing and I'm actually using the Nuvaring. I have been using it for the past two months and about a week before my actual period starts I have this thick brownish discharge. It really freaks me out but the dr said that I'm fine and to just continue as normal. Ha easy for HIM to say!

Hi- I find it very interesting that most of you ladies are taking YAZ and have this issue. I am taking Ortho tri-Cycline Lo and I am also having this problem. I have been on this BC for about 2 years and this is the first time this has happened to me. I have a ton of cramping with it too. I had to use a tampon because it was so bad. Has anyone gone to the Dr about this? This has been going on for about 3 days,but if it continues for a few more days, I will have to go to the Dr.
I am married and do not use condoms,. so I don't think condoms have anything to do with it, since a few others do not use them either.

omg i cant stand this, i have just started my birth control that is Femcon Fe like 2 weeks ago. I also just stopped taking some med. for a bacteria infection, and then yesterday i started geting a dark red kind of bleeding and also they look like maybe brown clots. its freaking me out and i dont no what to do. im not supose to be on my period for about another week, and this has never hapened to me. the doctor said i shouldnt of been having sex while i was on my med. :$ so i dont no if its from that or if its from somthing else. im also itching and hurting. i am so confused and i was looking up what is wrong with me. if anyone can help please do!!

honestly i have tried every kind of birth control and the best kind is the NUVARING, you dont have to take pills every day you insert the ring vaginally leave it in for 3 weeks take it out for a week and so on, it is the best form of birth control on all the pills i found that i was clotting more and now i have little to none! it's truly the way to go!

Okay, so I'm 17 and I just started Birth Control. I'm taking Loestrin. I'm about to end the second week and go into the third. Last night was Thanksgiving, and the brown discharge started. It wasn't the greastest smell in the world. Now it has no smell it's just brownish reddish. I'm not cramping or soar. I took a shower and the smell went away, and so did the discharge. My boyfriend and I also had sex and no smell, no weird brown discharge. But this morning i went to go use the bathroom and there was the discharge again. We're both clean, he's get checked regular and I just went to the gyno two weeks ago. We also have unprotected sex. I don't know what to do! Is it old blood?

I've been on BC for 5 years now. I went on it b/c I was having very heavy periods, and I started with Seasonale b/c I liked the three months with no period. Never had a problem except I would get bad mood swings. I switched to Microgestin in September of 08, and everything went fine with that until June of this year. I would be two weeks into the active pills and I would get the dark brown discharge that would continue until I got my period, and then it would stop and I would have my normal period. This has continued since then. However, I have begun taking Jolessa since I felt the Microgestin wasn't strong enough (and my insurance doesn't cover brand names, only generics) and I am on the third month of my first pack. I took the pills, had the discharge from right around Halloween until the Friday before Thanksgiving. No discharge for a week, then it started again. I am currently still having the discharge and it is very much the romance-killer. I can honestly say it has been over a month since my boyfriend and I have been intimate because I just feel sooo miserable I don't even feel the slightest bit wanting to do anything intimate. I'm going to my GYN tomorrow, hopefully seeing if I can get on Seasonique and see what that will do. But can anyone please tell me if this is normal? I don't see how it could be, especially since this is the sixth month this has been happening, and I've been to three different GYNs who can only tell me they think it could be the pill.

Just to let you know Othi- Trcyclin lo doesnt give youi alot of protection. its a very low dose. alot of people still get pregnant on it. try Othi Cyclin.

To be honest I say screw YAZ. I have never had any issues with my past birth control pills. I decided as of a month ago to switch to YAZ because I heard that it makes your breasts grow. So, I started taking it and ever sinc eI have I am feeling nauseous all the time and have random spotting and this brown discharge that I don't understand. On top of that a girlfriend of mine now has to take blood thinners because YAZ caused her to have blood clots. I am telling you ladies...something is not right with that birth control pill and it is not worth it.

For a while, I've been thinking I might be pregnant, but I have taken 3 pregnancy tests and all have come out negative. However, is it still possible? Ive started gaining weight, had brown discharge, and more recently severe lower abdominal pain. All signs of pregnancy. But I've also read that all of these symptoms are common with women on birth control. So how's a girl to know? Could it be pregnancy or just the birth control? Should I take 1 more test to be sure, or do I need to talk to my gyno?

Im on Monofeme, only for about a month. I started taking it the first day of my period like I was supposed to. I had unprotected sex about 2 weeks before hand, but didnt notice anything in those two weeks. The, ugh, stringy dark brown discharge didnt show up until I started taking the pill. I skipped the sugar pills. My doctor says its ok to do that, and Im not going through a period if I dont have to! So Im waiting a couple of extra weeks to see if it is just my body cleaning itself out. Then Im seeing my doctor because this is freaking me out majorly. I have had absolutely no other side affects so Im not tooo worried, no pain, no irritation, no itching, just...this.

Is everyone certain that the brown discharge is due to birth control? Because I'm not on it and I still get the yucky dark brown discharge. I thought it may have been a cut or infection or something. Are there any other suggestions to what it might be?
