I'm feeling the same way! Day 6 without taking it after weaning off of it for three weeks. Literally awful but I'm glad I'm not the only one! Hoping I don't feel this way forever and can power through one day at a time!!

Thank god I found this thread. I was on Escitalopram for almost 3 years and quit the summer of 2015, with no discontinuation problems. I was off it for a year but had to go back on it last summer. Then I decided to quit a few weeks ago and I haven't taken since last sunday (10 days ago) And what a terrible 10 days its been! So dizzy and lightheaded, feeling 'outside of myself', rapid heart palpitations when I turn my head, very hungry, and very tired, also blurry vision. I feel worse throughout the day, so much that I wont drive my car after dinner time.
It has helped a lot seeing that I'm not alone.

I'm really glad I found this thread, I thought that I was just crazy. Slowly decreased my dosage over a week and now I am having this weird feeling of floating/dizziness. It feels like I have vertigo possibly? Coupled with headache and body aches. Does anyone know when this will end??

Hi, I’m Amanda.
Also glad to have found this thread!
I have tapered off lexapro over a few weeks, and been of it now for about 8 days. I have been dizzy since day 4.
I put on about 13kgs while on lexapro. I had been on it for 7 months.
i went to the doctor a month ago, complaining about weight gain and it don’t even cross her mind that it would be lexapro. I went and had tests done to try and find out reason for weight gain.... but nothing.
It only occurred to me that it’s the lexapro. I figured it out myself.
So i tapered off myself. And now waiting for dizziness to subside. This thread has been great to read, but not many stories about how long it takes for dizziness to stop. I hope it doesn’t last too long :(

I had only taken Lexapro for about a month, but it was clear that the side effects were going to be worse than dealing with my depression, I was taking 20 mg tapered to 10 for 6 days per my doctor's advice, an di am feeling exactly like you describe. Floaty, almost out of body, headaches and intense dizziness.

Totally feeling that land sickness feeling! When I told my Dr. That I was experiencing vertigo since getting off Lexapro she said that wouldn't cause that. I beg to differ!

And now stopped taking Escitolpram cold turkey...2 withdrawal symptoms im geting as of now after 7 days of stoppage6 are Brain zaps cum dizziness and weird dreams which makes me awake anytime during night sleeps...hope will get to normal very soon.

I'm glad I found this thread although I'm still unsure if what I've been experiencing is Lexapro withdrawals/side effects or something else. I stopped taking Lexapro, only 5mg a day, about 2 weeks ago. I was ok at first my now my eyes feel weird, like my head or brain turns too fast for my eyes and they have to catch up (I'm not even sure if I've explained that right!). It makes me feel light headed or woozy, and unbalanced. I also feel very fatigued and at first thought I was getting sick. My questions are though, has anyone's symptoms gotten worse when you're more tired? I've been very tired with my toddler waking up over night and a busy Christmas period, but last night had a full nights sleep and don't feel as bad today. It's still there though, probably feels worse by the afternoon than in the morning (again more tired by the afternoon).
Do these sound like Lexapro related symptoms?
Thanks
Kylie

I haven’t gone of my lexapro yet but I did accidentally skip a day and I became so dizzy and nauseous that I actually passed out and threw up shortly after. I was admitted to the hospital for a night so they could monitor me we then figured out why it happened. I have found that many of you haven’t had as serious side effects this may be because I’m fairly young but either way definitely be careful while stopping lexapro you should contact a doctor and find out the proper way to get off the medicine. I hope ur side effects go down! Best regards!
