I was feeling dizzy all the time when I stopped taking cipralex. So, I had to go through a VERY gradual decrease of dosage over time. From a 5 mg pill, I started taking 1/2 for 1 month, then 1/4 for one month, then 1/8 for one month, and finally 1/16 for one month. After completing stopping the medication, I felt dizzy for about 1 one week and then I was fine. The best feeling ever.

Im 4 weeks off lexapro and obsessively googling symptoms in fear that the way I feel is gonna be permanent, I feel dizzy and lightheaded, if I squeeze my eyes closed things feel spinny and it feels like the back of my head is fizzy inside. I go from singing at the top of my voice feeling so glad to be alive and for my amazing kids to shoutingat my kids and feeling overwhelmed with sadness and crying alot. I feel very unhinged and know that if I go to my doctor she will say that after 4 weeks that these symptoms are nothing to do with lexapro and so I dont go as im afraid of how id react to that ad I know its the lexapro!!! So many of us cant be wrong or disillusioned!! I was also told no weight gain and put on 20 pounds in 7 months!!! Sticking to strict diet now and it still doesnt seem to be shifting!!
I take chlorella, b complex and pro biotics, was taking magnesium but ran out of them so gonna get them again along with the fish oils. Will update again in a few days, take care everyone xx

i have been off lexapro 5mg about a week and I am completely dizzy, it is worse than when I really got vertigo one time. I decided to take another one today, but I will skip tomorrow and try another one friday. I think that taking one on each 2 or 3 days may help.

It's going to take a while. I'm several months off 20mg for many years cold turkey. Had a grand mal seizure at about week three. Hang in there it WILL get better.

I switched from Lexapro to Pristiq one month ago and each day was better and I felt great until I got a severe cold the 3rd week. Each day I could feel myself getting more agitated and depressed. I thought it was just the cold but now that I am well again (day 30) the depression gets worse. Is this delayed withdrawal from the Lexapro even though I am taking Pristiq? I'm baffled as during the first weeks of Pristiq I was my old happy motivated self.

I am so glad I found this thread!! I was on 10mg Lexapro for about 18 mths. During that time I have gained 10kgs of weight, have daily headaches and the sweating was awful! I didn't actually think that the Lexapro was the cause of these until I googled it before coming of it and well!! I have been off now for 10 days and the only symptom I seem to be having is the light headedness. Before reading your posts I actually thought I may have a brain tumor or something lol At least I now know its normal, I hate the feeling but hope it won't stay around too long. I have already lost 2kgs and am no longer sweating so that is fantastic :)

Hey there Chchamy.
Will you keep me posted on your symptoms (if any) please? I have been on this c**p for 7 years and everytime I have tried to stop I get the worst side effects, including brain zaps

Hi there. Its been two weeks now since I stopped the Lexapro and the light headedness is definitely improving. I still get a few wee moments but nothing like how it was in the beginning. I am guessing it just takes time for it all to leave your system. I am still having headaches though, not bad ones but pretty much daily. Its awful that you have been battling this for 7 years :(

I have been taking 10mg of Lexapro per day for 3 years now. In that time I have missed a few days here and there so I know the feeling of the side effects. Today I got really dizzy at work and had to go home. Since then I have realised that I am feeling the same way as when miss a few days. The problem is that I have been taking my meds everyday without fail for at least a month but I feel the same as if I have stopped taking it.

Couple of weeks since I went off a very low 5mg daily dose of Cipralex that I was on for only about 6 months. Within couple days of stopping started getting dizzy. Thought it was waning but last couple days are so intense I'm starting to call it Vertigo. If I turn my head quickly I get all woozy. Hard to believe the withdrawal of such a small dose over a such a short period can do this. Scary. But I had to stop because I was getting shaky, over anxious, heart pounding which is one of the reasons I was taking it in the first place. It worked for about 5 months until that happened.

Please trust me when I say take your time. Taper 1mg at a time monthly at least. This is a nightmare drug and in my opinion should be banned. It completely messes with your hardwiring in your brain. I have been on it for 9 years. I stopped once by tapering and I was fine. Then BOOM! Two months later I had to get back on it due to severe withdrawals. Shakes, brain zaps, dizziness and anxiety. It's pure evil. You have not been on it that long. Please please taper slowly and rid yourself of this c**p. DO NOT PUT IT OFF. Exercise and diet will help during the taper. Eat lots of green veg. Parsley and coriander will clean the blood and help get any toxins out. Don't drink alcohol. Even better, buy a juicer. Stick all kinds of greens in there. REMEMBER THE PARSLEY! You must be in peak physical shape (or be on your way to being) to help you get off this. Trust me, you do not want to let 9 years go by thinking "I'll do it later". Get yourself healthy. Only eat fresh food. No processed rubbish. Your body will help you if you treat it right. I am doing this now and I have tapered down to 10 from 20 mg with far less trouble than usual.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU!!! Remember, you must start or keep being healthy. Treat yourself as you would if you were your own best father. Know what I mean? You deserve to be free of this. And when you are, because you treated your body so well you will most likely wonder why you were taking it in the first place. Be positive!!! All the best!!!

I was taking a over the counter supplement called sam-e. I only took it for 4 weeks when I decided to quit. A few days later I began to feel very lightheaded/dizzy. It is now 3.5 months later and I still feel lightheaded 24/7. Does anyone know if there is anything that can be done to elevate this? How long it might last?

Wow. That must be the worst. Are you certain it is that? Has anything at all changed in your diet/lifestyle or anything? Supplements can be just as bad as prescription meds. Please can you tell me what if any meds you are taking?
