I've been taking birth control pills continuously the past couple of months. I had a surgical abortion yesterday, and I was wondering if my birth control is still effective? I was on my last week of pills, and my doctor told me to start a new pack the night of my abortion so "my body would know that this is over". I don't know what she meant by that and I didn't have the money to buy them last night as I've been really struggling. I know I need to wait to have sex for at least two weeks, but will I be protected then? Hypothetically am I protected right now (from pregnancy not infection). Or do I need to wait until I finish a whole new pack? Thank you.
