I have also gained about 10 lbs.  Used Flonase regularly and started gaining belly fat...look like I'm 5 months pregnant, and am eating less and exercising more.  I cut back sporadically, but continue to have the big belly and pants are hard to fit in the mid section.  Have stopped completely, and will suffer the sinus stuffiness, and do the Atkins to try to shed this big bulging belly.  Frustrating...

I have also gained about 10 pounds and also in the belly.  Over several years.  I had developed bad allergies and needed the Flonase and even a shot once a year.  But in Feb of this year I stopped taking sugar in my coffee and cut out most sources of sugar.  It's hard to avoid it completely, but I cut way back.  Not only did I get rid of irritable bowel syndrome (after a few weeks) and my skin became better, but my choleterol went down and so did my blood pressure.  I was also able to skip the yearly shot and gradually lost about 3 pounds.

Sugar causes inflammation and may be worsening your allergy.

I'm giving up Flonase today, and I want to see if the rest of the weight drops off.

I also started using Fluticasone Propionate Nasal Spray 50 mcg 2 sprays in each nostril and I have notice weight gain and mostly in the middle I watch what I eat and walk 4 miles or more every day and I am pretty active. I believe it's the nasal spray and after reading what others have wrote it has to be the reason for the weight gain and it's within a three week span so what gives?

I've used Flonase for 1 1/2 years and then switched to OTS Nascort. I have rapidly gained  10 lbl wihtin a few months of starting use but didn't make the connection as to what caused it.  I increased exercise and reduced caloric intake and stll gain another 7 lbs.  I was stumped as to what was causing the weight gain, mostly in my abdomin area.  I am a healthy eater, exercise with yoga and pilates and never put rapid weight like this.  I will discontinue the nasal spray and use saline sprays and natural remedies for allergies starting today.

Started taking Flanase 3 years ago.  February 2015 will be 3 years.  In that 3 years I have gained 30 pounds and asked, "what am I doing different?" the whole time????  Nothing but the flonase 2 squirts, each nostril twice a day.  I am stopping the flanase.  I'll keep you posted as to the difference, if any.

I have a healthy lifestyle and have gained 10 lbs in the last few months. I tried several diet and exercise to lose the weight with no results. I stopped the nose spray and I lost 3 lbs in 3 days. I started the nose spray again and the weight came back. I need steroids for my polyps so not sure what else I can do.

Excuse me, but I've gained 2 lbs in the past week. You make this silly assumption about how Flonase can NOT be the cause of weight gain, but instead, say it is because of Life Style?? I walk 5 miles a day, 1.5 hrs of Cardio a day, and watch what I eat... How dare you even make a reply as that! Do you employed by Flonase??? Are you afraid to learn anything negative about your precious allergy drug? If it works for you..Great! But DONT TELL ANYONE THAT YOU DONT KNOW (whom happens to be dealing with side effects from a drug) that its their Lifestyle causing them the problem! Imbecile.

See your doctor!!! It could be Cushings disease, a rare and possibly fatal condition!

I am so thankful to have found this post! I have gained 8 pounds and couldn't figure out the cause. I went to the doctor to have blood work run to see if there is an underlying cause but when the blood work came back fine I started thinking about any changes I had made in diet, lifestyle.....nothing. I thought about medications and the ONLY thing that has changed is that I have been using Flonase for the last 3 months. I'm stopping immediately.

This is weird... it must affect certain people differently. I used Flonase for about 2 months and actually lost weight. I don't think Flonase caused my weight loss, but it certainly didn't cause any gain. I came here because a friend of mine was saying that since it's a steroid I need to be careful. Of what, I don't know. It helps me stay clear-headed and happy During allergy season.

I have been on Flonase off and on for 8 months.  I also started taking more antihistamines since then.  In addition, I started on bc pills.  I gained about 8-10 pounds.  Each, from my research, can cause weight gain.  It was also winter, but I wasn't really any less active.  I do notice that when I stop the Flonase and antihistamines for a week or so, some weight comes off.  Not very scientific, but I'm thinking that taking them has contributed to my weight gain.  Now, cortecoseroid eye drops have been added into the mix for me.  I feel those are also making me gain weight and feel bloated.
