I know this post is a year old, but certain steroids make you so hungry that you get ill. You obviously have never had to take them for extended periods or you wouldn't be so "holier than thou". Maybe fluticasone isn't one of them since it's a nasal spray, but certain meds do cause weight gain, and it's often an unnatural looking weight gain - like a spare tire around your middle, when you aren't even prone to gaining weight there. Please don't reply to things you have no experience with. Thank you.

Try a healthy diet that emphasizes anti-inflammatory properties. Basil and chamomile tea, tons of veggies, Fish oil and bromelain. Even then it might not make a huge difference, I do the above and am able to get by - allergies are still there but much more manageable.

I have tried using Flonase in the past. Just started using again 3 days ago. Have gained 6 pounds. I only eat once a day and that is 4 ounces of grilled chicken and salad greens. It has to be the Flonase. Now I remember why I didn't use it in the past. Also, it cause me to experience low blood sugars and become sleepy and dizzy. Glad I found this site as it confirmed the weight gain as it didn't show as a side effect in the leaflet.

I started using Flonase about 4 weeks ago and have gained about 10 pounds since then and can really feel it, especially around my stomach. Really disappointed because this is the only medication that has stopped my allergies and my sneeze attacks. I will stop using it :(

I started using Flonase a few weeks ago & it works great for clearing up my allergy symptoms. I also gained more than 10 pounds recently. All in my abdominal area. I could not figure out why. Nothing else has changed. I'm so glad I came across this web site. Flonase is the last thing I expected to find out causes weight gain. I'm going back to Benadryl (which was the only thing that worked for me before Flonase). How disappointing to put weight on so fast with this medication

Yes, I am seeing similar weight gain in those areas. Even though I am eating less.

I believe it. Antidepressants are notorious for causing weight gain as a result of impending fat breakdown/metabolism problem. Always trust yourself and eschew the idiotic diet and exercise comment.

Impeding, I mean.

I started Flonase 5 days ago and have been ravenously hungry. Nothing has changed with my routine or exercise. I am going to discontinue it.

Definately. I've only been on it 2 weeks and my face is fuller as well as my belly. Not only that, it causes neck and back pain and a bad cough but doesn't decrease post nasal drip at all (not for me anyway). I stopped taking it today. Benedryl is really the only antihistimine that works well for my allergies, but tiredness is an issue.

Went to my ENT for voice loss. They prescribed this and Montelukast as well as giving me a steroid shot. 3 months later, I had gained 40 pounds. I am quit taking both about a week ago, and have lost 9 pounds. I work out almost daily - cardio and weights. While I was RAVENOUS for about 2 weeks, my eating habits returned to normal. This is pure belly fat (yes nothing fits anymore, AND I have stretch marks), and I now also have a weird neck (seems like have fatty deposits) I meet with my normal doctor next week anxious to learn if this caused the issue and what the resolution is. (As now losing voice again....sigh)

Wow I read all of these posts because I have gained 20lbs as well since using Flonase and Zyrtec. I started about two years ago and thought it was maybe hormonal or thyroid. I had both tested recently, started dieting and excercising and still could not lose weight. After reading these comments I just threw out both and started with a probiotic. Hopefully will start losing the weight but now it makes sense to me.
