I was told that certain drugs or foods could cause a false positive +ana test result for systemic lupus. If so, what are the names of the drugs ( Laymans terms please), and the foods.

I've read actually that +ana tests can create a lot of false positives, so unless you are displaying symptoms of systemic lupus, a positive doesn't necessarily mean you have the disease. I'm not sure which drugs or foods cause false positives because it seems that a lot of them do. I think you'd have to display symptoms of lupus and THEN get a positive before a physician would take the test seriously.

Does anyone else out there know any foods or drugs?

Hello there nelizabeth66,

I completely agree with healthnfitnessguy. You should anyway ask your doctor about all your suspicions. Lupus can be very serious and basically you need to change your whole lifestyle. My girlfriend was diagnosed with the lupus two years ago. First of all she needed to stop smoking because smoking helps Lupus to attack your heart.

This was very hard for her but she has decided that she likes her heart far more than some cigarette smoke. After that she started to have joint problems. It hurts sometimes so strong that even anti-inflammation medications are not helping. I am trying my best to help her.

I hope that you will not be diagnosed with Lupus. Keep us posted.

Hello,
Two years ago I had a backache, I went to the Dr who did this test. It came positive, but after the others more specific test for lupus and other sickness, negative. Seen a lot of drs but have no diagnostic. In 6 months I have to see again the rheumatologist to do again all the tests because she thinks the sickness is going to develop after, but what particular sickness will she doesn't know. I have became depressed and hypochondriac. I ask myself if maybe I could be healthy or If I am condemned to sickness
