I am curious –are false positive results possible? The thing is that I was treated with antibiotics in order to cure myocarditis I had almost 2 months ago and few days ago I was checking up on my troponin levels and the result was positive but it hasn't correspond ed to my AMI clinical picture and now I am wondering if are false troponin positive results possible especially regarding the fact that my yestarday ECG test showed I am ok with my heart condition but according to troponin test I might be having some heart muscle injury. Anyway I still doubt it and would like to hear if are false positive results possible regarding my troponin test? Thanks!

It could happen getting false troponin positive results so it is basically possible especially if some heterophilic antibodies are present –at least this was the reason of false positive troponin results in my sis case- so I advice you have some further test done such as coronary angiography combined with stress test also. Anyway since getting false positive troponin results is possible in some cases I advice you recheck your lab test including checking the sample for there is maybe a possibility of presence of clots or microparticles and of course have another blood test and also check for hemoglobin as well as for high billirubin interference. Those are actually possible reasons of getting false positive troponin results and that is something that could be effectively determined with redoing some blood and lab tests.
