I have a large parathyroid adenoma that must be removed. Calcium=11.2/ Vit. D=12 / PTH=165/ Sestamibi scan is positive and I have osteopenia. Tumor has been growing for the last 5 - 10 years per the endocrinologist I saw last week.
I have consultations with surgeons at Yale (Dr. Tobias Carling) and Weill-Cornell (Dr. Tom Fahey), however, I keep seeing this Norman Parathyroid Center popping up in all of my searches. Is NPC worth it for those of you who've had it done there? Yale and Weill-Cornell are top hospitals, but is seeing Dr. Norman's group the way to go? I hate that $1750 consult fee he charges. I'm not sure how he can justify it other than people are clearly willing to pay it, but is it worth it?
