This is exactly how I am feeling now!! Had injection in knee a week on Friday!! I feel so terrible!! Never again; I will put up with the pain!! I have never felt like this!!

THANK YOU FOR THIS POST! I received a 2nd joint injection yesterday into my Frozen Shoulder. I am a Diabetic on insulin and about 8 hours after the cortisone shot under anesthesia, I thought I was having a severe low blood sugar episode. I checked my blood sugar but was ok. However, my heart was pounding so hard, had pins and needles in feet and legs, then a hot wave went up my body and I almost passed out. My husband took me to the ER and doc said I had some sort of allergic reaction to the injection. Perhaps the preservatives or something mixed with the injection. I am so sorry others experienced this, but THANK YOU for posting. I thought I was nuts!

I've had the shots and the 6 day medrol pack for my back. I don't really get any side effects from the shots, but the oral...totally different story. I was put on the oral 1.5 years ago and for sciatica and it was the worst ever! I suffered from racing heart, BP sky rocketed, horrible, horrible anxiety and insomnia. It took several months to calm down but still till this day my anxiety is harder to control and I get off/on heart palpitations. I have had EKGs prior to the medrol pack and always came out normal, post medrol pack EKGs not show a right atrial abnormally. I am getting MIS surgery for my back in the near future and now I have to contend with the heart issue as well due to this very horrible drug!

I can relate to all your symptoms cause I am getting the same and it is now over two months and I am still suffering from this injection. I wish someone can tell me something especially the Doctors after all the test they are running and all coming back negative. We can just hope for the best and trust God cause I have never been the same since getting that cortisone shot.

I just wanted to say I received a cortisone injection today for my knee after a fall 3 weeks ago and I got SO NASEOUS this afrternoon! Now lying in bed and noticed my heart is racing about 85 bpm and my throat is really dry. I take Aloe Vera juice on a regular basis so took to help with the tummy and it worked. It is a super supplement for ph balancing your digestive system. Another winner is Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar diluted with water. The knee and thigh are doing super GRATEFUL! I will continue doing what I do, staying busy never stopped but the pain was crazy. ACV on a regular basis heals sinuses and nettie pots. Inhaling essential oils also work... eucalyptis oil, lemon, clove, pepper and many more.
Lastly, try to figure out what is triggering the severe sinus... mine is 2nd hand cigarette smoke. I drink lots of green tea decaf with raw honey and real lemon juice. If it gets severe the only med I take is Alka Seltzer Plus Severe Sinus Day and Night it works for me. Advil and others. Not evry drug works for every person. Natural supplements generally will put you back on track but it takes consistency and diligence....hope every feels better!

Wow! I just Google to see if the steroid injections I had this week could cause heart palpitations and am very disappointed to see how many of you are suffering from this. My doctor didn't talk to me about side affects at all. I've had a brutal headache for the past 3 days,and now this unnerving racing of my heart. Hoping this only lasts a couple of days but after reading your comments, I'm really worried.

Today I got the steroid shot which I normally get every year and my doctor told me to continue my Allegra which I started yesterday and my heart is now pounding... This all happened within a few hours.... She prescribed me some Nasonex and some other meds I'm supposed to pick up in the morning. Mind you, I only weigh 102 pds and am a 32 year old woman. I'm iffy on taking anything else together with all this already. I don't feel I even need the Allegra with the Steroid shot. I may quit taking the Allegra tomorow and just see how the shot works because it stays in your system for weeks..... I know my heart is still racing and I'm not feeling well. All over a severe running and sneezing nose

I have had multiple Steriod Injections. 120 mg of Methyl-Prednisone is a large dose as far as risk for side-effects. I recommend going to a Cardiologist is the HR is so high it is causing trouble after 2-3 days. They have drugs that will easily lower the HR back down. My Spine Dr's have told me its just "hit and miss" as far if they happen to inject the drugs into a vein, so that the steroid enters directly into bloodstream. My longest issue with this was about 10 days. Steriods can also cause Arrythmia AFTER the Steriod wears off, as now your Adrenals may not be making their own Cortisol for awhile, and at that point to little Cortisol in the Body can trigger Heart Arrythmias.
Advice: Go on lower doses at first to see how you react. Everyone is different. Use Steriods like Dexamethasone that has a longer half-life than Methy-Prednisone, so there is less risk of Post Injection Adrenal insufficiency.

I had shots on both my shoulders from tendinitis and I'm also experiencing tachycardia. I thought at first that I was only stressed out but then I read this column. And I'm glad I'm not the only one. Is there a treatment to counteract this side effects?
