I just had a cortisone shot an was told it should not have too much of an effect on my mestrual cycle, but however I experienced a stiinging in the back of my throat and rapid breathing a few minutes after the shot. It was scarey, but passed after they gave me water to drink. They say it happens once in a while. I think it was a slight reaction to the numbing medication or a panic attack ? No idea

I have Lupus & got a shot couple days ago. Have had shot before, but this time my heart is racing like crazy. Never happened this bad before. I have tachycardia already, but on meds for that. I'm surprised by this.

For me it's been a couple of years and it's better but still not quite right. From what my cardiologist described I had an underlying propensity for irregular heart beat, and the steroid shot threw me into it. It's called dual pathway svt. 20% of women have this dual pathway and never know it, but the rise in adrenaline sent my blood sloshing around into palpitations. It's actually harmless but uncomfortable, and for me worse with exercise or alcohol. The beta blockers help. It comes and goes, hope it's gone forever, 2-3 years post kenalog shot in the knees. I had at least one orthopedist say I was flat wrong, but the cardiologist agrees that steroids do this for some people.

I am now 72 years old and about 4 years ago I had a Coritsone shot in my knee for pain about late morning/early afternoon. I went home and felt fine but when I tried to go to sleep that night my heart started to race so much. I was awake all night worried and wondering if I should go to the hospital or not. The heart racing went on all night long and finally felt like it was dropping (going back to normal) about daybreak. It was the scariest thing I had ever felt in my life and had never before happened nor has ever happened since that one shot. I asked the doctor about my experience and was told it had to be something else as Cortisone does not do that to anyone. Since it has never happened before the shot or since the shot I still believe it was the shot that caused my racing heart.

I had a rapid heartbeat and my hands became uncontrollably shacky.
I had been given a steroid injection in my arm. I was not the first time after an injury but it was the first time to experience these reactions.
I was driving when this started and became very scared. I pulled off the road and took two Benedryl pills. It all subsided.
Now, I never have steroids without taking a Benadryl.
I have asked about this several times but get no answers.
Always keep Benedryl with you. Everyone should.

I had cortizone hip injection at 9.30 0n 25th Oct. By 18.00 my heart rate was 95. It's usually 66. I was hot and couldn't sleep all night. I felt awful. It slowed down at 07.00. Thank God. Never again.

I have just had a cortisone this afternoon in my back to stop a nerve impeaching on my disc. The I section was painful especially in the area it went into.

Now when I got home everything was fine except for numbness of my left leg due to anesthetic. I was lying g down watching tv when all the sudden I started to get clamy and heart was racing. Usually my bpm are around 65 but I was now around 95. Not panicking at the moment but will keep an eye on it. Most definitely cortisone is a nasty drug but good at the same time.
