I'm distressed. I shouldn't have gotten the surgery. It was a mistake. it's been nearly a decade and i am still suffering itchiness from time to time - like in summer when i sweat a lot. i wash twice a day - yet, i still get the itchy feeling on the scar.
I swear, if i could go back, i'd shoot myself for getting the surgery.
any suggestion on what brands of cream i should use? i don't want to use anything too strong.

This is really a barbaric way of treatment. The most chalanging part during first few days is pain during bowel movement. Itching is part of healing process. If you can avoid surgery by just changing life style , I will recommend not to go for surgery unless it's really up to neck.seems like my symptoms will come back sooner or later. Sitiing on toilet for Long, constipation and not drinking enough water are main cause which should try to avoid. Taz

Hi ! I've suffered from intense itching, burning and tingling after the surgery even into my 5th week of recovery. I feel my situation has divine intervention when after soaking in the warm water bath (which they recommend) I felt that basically it's the warmth of the water that makes me feel better but being wet eventually makes me feel sick after some time. So I took a long piece of clean cotton cloth and folded it to be the size of my palm (a little bigger). I then use an iron to warm it up and I basically give warm fomentation in my anal area with that cloth. I do it 5-6 times a day and the itching has ABSOLUTELY stopped. I hope this helps anyone of you since I know the pain that's felt.

Hi, I am glad that individuals are sharing these post for people like to read. I am 10 days post surgery and last night i got the itching and it has carried through the day today. I know from my past experience that itching in most cases is good news and it means healing. My itching is also inside with no way to get there. I hope all this pain and discomfort was worth the surgery and misery that I have gone through.
P.S. I was also told I'd be back to normal within a week.. ppsshhh what a load of cr*p.

Thanks for that tip. I'm 4days out of surgery, the bm was the worst pain of all, the burning after the bm concerns me, I'm going to try the ironed cloth, that sounds good. Why does it burn so bad??

This had to be one of the most painful surgeries that exist. One week post op and the cream I now have discovered is great. Still in pain and itchy. Can't wait till all is healed.

Hi all, 21 days post op for extremely large internal and external haemorrhoids. First couple of days after surgery were deceptively easy until the truly barbaric side of this surgery played out in full force. I was very well briefed by my surgeon but nothing prepares you for what you can expect. Im not taking anything away from the men that post on here but I feel obliged to state that it's possibly a worse recovery for a female, as I can speak from experience when I say bladder infections from the sitz baths and yeast infections from anti-biotics are highly likely, not to mention considering medical intervention to skip the monthly visit from Aunt Flo, as trust me, you do not want to have to contend with her in the first few weeks of your recovery.
The first and second weeks are definitely the worst pain wise, especially after a BM where you will experience complete fatigue which absolutely wipes you out but by the beginning of the 3rd week the stinging does ease and the need for an immediate bath stops.
I am currently relatively pain free and the only localised issues I have are stinging and chronic itching which I am using germoline very successfully I might add, to ease these annoying symptoms. The biggest problem I have is that I'm still housebound at present as I am going to the toilet up to 10 times a day and when I have to go, I have to go!!!!!!! Despite this, the BM are now almost a pleasant experience unless I become complacent with fluid intake and diet. I hope my experience is helpful, yes it's awful, yes it hurts, in fact it's horrific but I know that it will be worth it when I'm fully recovered.
If anyone is experiencing going to the loo as much with such urgency, I'd really appreciate some hope that I might actually be able to leave the house again!! Good luck everyone...you will survive it even though you don't think you will!!!!

So I'm 61/2 weeks post op. And I must have been a a glass eater in a sideshow in my past life.Because bowel movements feel like I've eaten buckets of hot shattered glass!!Oh yes descriptive but true ! Not to mention X ternal and internal itching . I now understand why the dog drags its butt across the carpet . I too would try if my knees would allow .

I've tried several types of creams appointments . I give myself sitz bath several times a day .have light rash rectum area and Slightly near labia . I too thought it was a yeast infection but it was not. Bacterial infection maybe . But I've treated . Nothing works . I have a mixed Teatree oil and Coconut oil and apply to area . Helps but does not eliminate the itching.And let me tell y'all ! It's so fun being woke from a good sleep by a sharp stab in the pooper!!!! Yeah fun times folks!! Well thanks for letting me share.
