Hi! The only way to not become pregnant that is tested and tried would be one of the forms of birth control. Some are 99.9% effective if used correctly. All of them are said to have side effects but I have been on Ortho Tri Cyclen for 2 years and I have been fine. It depends on how your body reacts to the hormones.

If you don't want to put anything into your body, i would say use condoms with spermacide until you are ready to become pregnant. 6 months is not all that long. Tho some women react very well the the pill, others don't and you may have to try 2 or 3 different kinds before you find one that suits you.
IMO..stay away from Yaz. My daughter was on them and she was an animal. The weight gain, mood swings, headaches, fatigue, the list goes on. Not to mention possible blood clots. (not her)
Before that she was on Ortho Evra, another bad one for her.
It's up to you but i would stear away from stuff like that. This is just from my experience and all women are different, you may be pleasantly surprised with the pill.
