I was out of yasmin birth control pills a few months ago when I visited my gynecologist and she gave me a free sample of yaz. I took it for a month, then refilled my yasmin prescription and took that for a month. I then saw my gynecologist again and she asked me why I had not simply switched to yaz two months earlier- then without explanation gave me a full bag of free yaz samples and told me to switch. I took yaz for a about three weeks and this is when my symptoms started. I was experiencing wild mood swings, bad depression, anxiety and then panic attacks, none of which I had experienced before. I felt uncomfortable in my own skin and couldn't even recognize myself. I stopped taking the pill after three weeks and have been off of any kind of birth control (for the first time in 5 years) for two weeks now. The problem is, the symptoms are persisting. Does anyone know if they can just go away on their own or if I have to go back on yasmin or if there is anything I can do to make this stop?? I can't handle the normal stressors in my life anymore and I can't go on like this. I feel like yaz gave me all of the symptoms that it is supposedly purported to treat...and then some.

I was on Yaz for almost a year and began having extreme anxiety and depression. I couldn't sleep, lost weight, and was basically miserable. After seeing my doctor, I began taking an antidepressant (Zoloft). Well after about a year of that and 20 pounds of weight gain, I am attempting to go off of the Zoloft. I believe this was all brought on by the YAZ. It sucks.
