I went on YAZ to correct severe pre-menstrual depression and moodiness, but it ended up causing much more of a problem for me. While the YAZ helped my moodiness and depression, I lost a ton of weight and started experiencing abdominal pains, as well as other side effects mentioned in other posts (fatigue, loss of sex drive, cramping, month-long spotting, etc.).
After 4 months I couldn't take it anymore and I asked my doctor to go back on the Yasmin, which I had been on for 3 years before going on YAZ. Immediately after stopping the YAZ all of my side effects went away, except for the abdominal pains. After seeking extensive medical advice and testing, I found out that I have a tumor in my liver, and every doctor and specialist I have seen believes it to be brought about by the YAZ.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PILL. Whatever you are experiencing that makes you consider switching to it is not worth the suffering I have been through these past 6 months. I would never wish this on my worst enemy!

I only began taking Yaz one month ago, I went on the medication to regulate my periods. I am also taking aldactone for hair thinning and my dr told me that yaz might help me, it would need to be trialed for 2 months to see if it helps or not. I was very reluctant to take any pill but I was tired of irregular periods (a side effect from aldactone). I have read lots of similar side effects on this site and I am sure glad to see that like others have said, it's not me, it's the medication. The major side effects I have noticed are that my sex drive completely died, I have a wonderful bf and normally my sex drive is great, but I really noticed the decrease which has not been good, also depressed and not so much emotional but 'flat', no enthusiasm for anything, not sleeping well, dizziness like you wouldn't believe, I also had bad stomach pains, I have a rash over my eye lids that has been there since I began taking the medication. So I have decided to stop taking it, especially after reading all the other posts, it's a dangerous drug and I am looking forward to feeling 'normal' again!!!!
I wished I had found this site before starting the medication, so hope that it helps another woman !
