Hi, I fell down my deck steps about a week ago. I had a huge goose egg on the left side of my head. Also, hit my right side before landing on sidewalk. I still have the pain in my right side especially when lifting or bending over. I have also started a cough after my fall, which doesn't help with the pain, Any ideas!! Been icing, using heat and taking cold remedies for the cough.  janice

Hello, Janice.

1. Get medical attention: If you have experienced a fall that has resulted in right side pain, it is important to seek medical attention. This will help to ensure that you have not sustained any injuries that require medical intervention.

2. Take pain medications: Taking over-the-counter medications such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen can help to reduce the pain associated with the fall.

3. Apply ice: Applying ice to the affected area can help to reduce inflammation and swelling which can contribute to the pain. Ice should be used for 15 minutes at a time, several times a day.

4. Use heat: Applying heat can also help to reduce pain. Heat should be applied to the affected area for 15 minutes at a time, several times a day.

5. Rest: Resting and avoiding activities that aggravate the pain can help to reduce it and promote healing.

6. Follow up with your doctor: If your right side pain has not improved within a few days, it is important to follow up with your doctor for further evaluation and treatment.

Do you feel better now?
