Hi, I also had osteomyelitis vertebrae caused by some bacteria. I had terrible back pain.
Infections of the vertebrae usually develop gradually, producing persistent back pain, which is worsened by movement and resting, applying heat, or taking analgesics, don’t help. Osteomyelitis more common in young children and in older people, but all age groups can be affected. It is more likely to occur in people with serious medical conditions. If inner part of bone is infected, it swells and stops blood flow, by compressing blood vessels in bone marrow. Reduced or cut blood supply leads to death of part of bone. If not treated it can become chronic condition.
