I am taking Premarin (can't remember the dosage) and Levothyroxin .0125 mcg once daily and have been for well over a year now. At first it seemed to work and I was able to drop the weight that I was gaining after undergoing a total hysterectomy, but over the last few months I have gained at 10+ lbs. in which I am NOT happy about. My diet hasn't changed a whole lot and I stay active. Is it possible that the dosage of my medication isn't enough any longer? Please help, I'm miserable just realizing the weight I've gained. :-(

It definitely is possible that the dosages are not right, especially the dosage of Premarin - it's obvious why you have to take it, but it comes the possibility of weight gain as side effect all on its own, to add more trouble to the weight gain related with hysterectomy. Levotyroxine has the same side effect as well, so it is very difficult to say which one of these medications might be the cause. Any chance you talk to your doctors about the dosages and medications because, after all, they are the only ones who can adjust them?
