I am considering haveingthe LSH (part. hist.).  Is depression and weight gain a side effect?  Is it harder to loose weight?

When compared to total hysterectomy that involves much larger incision to be made than when LSH is done, the chances are that you should be able to lose weight more quickly if weight gain happens, in the first place, simply because your recovery time when LSH is done is much shorter. Of course, it depends whether your ovaries will be removed also because of the hormonal treatment that would be required in that case can have weight gain as a side effect. But it's the long recovery time and not being allowed to move and be active in cases of traditional hysterectomy (that lasted for up to 6 weeks) that led to most of the weigh gained.

Hallo,
If I am not mistaking you want to have Laparoscopic Supra Cervical Hysterectomy. Is this correct? This is usually a painless procedure that removes your uterus through the navel. You have to understand that weight gain is very common amongst side effects of hysterectomy. You will also have some other complications such as hair loss or hot flashes. You have to understand that this doesn’t happen to everybody who undergo the procedure but the chances of happening are not low. Also you might notice some fatigues. If you gain weight you will need to exercise and modify your diet to help you maintain your normal weight. I hope this helped you a bit.
All the best to you,
Karen
