Initially I got a breakout from lexapro, i had been on it 2-4 months roughly, I thought nothing of it. Once I figured it was the Lexapro I decided to stop it to resolve the rash. I waited for one month cold turkey, I saw some resolution but I had expected it to totally clear after 2 weeks like most drug rashes. After one month clear of the Lexapro I was beginning to suffer mentally so I went back to prozac which I had been using for years previous before switching to lexpro. Now the prozac causing the rash to spread noticeably. My gp put me on a week of prednisone and the rash came right back a day or two after my course of prednisone. His next step was to give me an injection and switch me to effexor xl . The cortisone injection has cleared my skin but I still feel tingling and itchiness as I think my body is also rejecting the effexor, I won't know until the cortisone wears off. Am I intolerant to all ssris now ? I took prozac for over 10 year never had a problem until now . What do I do? Will my body ever accept an ssri again? I really need this medication

Unfortunately, it's impossible to say whether or not your body will accept an SSRI again. It's possible that you are intolerant to certain SSRIs and not others, or that you may have developed an allergy to one of the SSRIs. It's also possible that you could be allergic to the ingredients in the medication itself rather than the drug itself. Your best bet is to talk to your doctor about your options and see if they can suggest an SSRI that might be better tolerated by your body. You may also want to consider exploring other forms of treatment, such as therapy and lifestyle changes, to help manage your symptoms.
Has anything changed in the meantime?
